How hard is it to play the defender?

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

How hard is it to play the defender?

Post by MarkShot »

I have only player the LW in BOB 1940 1 and Full Campaign.

I tried playing the RAF.

Now, as the LW, maybe I am at most putting up 1-35 raids if I strike at in the morning, midafternoon, and night ... with a few recon flights. I tend to to like putting larger concurrent raids as a opposed to stream the through the day. I am to worried about being downed piecemeal.

But playing as the RAF defender is an amazing eye opener. The LW is putting up 100-150 raids, the amount of human involvement needed to counter this activity is a coordinated plan is simply mind boggling. Now, I know that I can put my groups on auto pilot and let them do as they see fit.

Does anyone have any insights as how to best manager the RAF Air Ministry?

Thanks.

Hi Mark.
Ignore what you can. You don't have the resources to deal with everything.
Just as you are afraid of LW losses in parts, concentrate large on a few raids. Use flak to defend targets you will not commit air units to.
I find playing the RAF is much harder than the LW as mistakes are harder to recover from.
Mark.

PS. Try 1941 campaign as RAF to see if you found the Italians as annoying as I did!
