What we need

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Sarge

Is their going to be some work done on the number of groups and squadrons a airfield can hold BTR before there is a noticable drop in turn around times?

I agree with this for the simple fact that the generic standardfor Btr is an airfield capacity of 4. I cant think of that many fields that hold 4 groups. This really has to be changed. There are enough geeks and searches out there to find out what airfield could hold what and at what date.

My apologies to all geeks and searches

Hmmm
that is a interesting one

I know, I still send out that question from time to time myself

I am not sure if the game follows the rules here or not

4 units can be based at a AF, is that 4 groups, or 4 squadrons, if 4 groups, can 12 squadrons be based there

(now we know in UV/WitP they were able to set up a limit to the base, based on base size, hassle for BoB/BTR we don't have base size)

errrr
but I also think part of the hassle is we don't really have all of the AF's that were there during the war, in the game, JC has added a lot more then were in the game at start

I know in the MED, I end up massing my GB fighter sqaudrons towards the front, but gamewize, you have to, you use the back bases and you can't reach the front lines

damned if we do and damned if we don't ?

we will have to talk and see how the game see's the rules, and if nothing else, make sure the player knows what the rules are, instead of should be

overall, not sure if we can make the bases bigger/smaller or in fact if we should

(some of these bases were Huge, others were just a strip of grass that was level)

Another thing I wouldnt mind seeing is some XV fighter command fields in Northern Italy.

As it stands right now the 15th cannot take advantage of the Gothic Line because all its fields are around Foggia. This means that even long legs of a 38 or 51D are used up before the tgts are reached.

If historically any fields were used in Northern Italy I think they need to be added.

Another thing to is the XV fighter command itself. Historically did they just have the 3 fighter groups or did they have more. Seems to me that a strategic AF with only 10 fighter sqdns is a little hump back and crooked.

anybody getting any info on the XVth ?

I found what looked like a number of good links, but all were dead

I do believe that most of the bases (for a while at least) are in that area (major target area during the planning of the attack on Italy for that reason)

I am still looking for numbers and bases

(LOL I find doc's on all the English and VIIIth/IXth bases, but nothing on XVth)

(JC added some XV Fighter AF's on Sardina, but I forget if that was because we found info on it, or to make me happy)

(by the by, I got 22 Squadrons in the XVth ? ahhhhhh, I got the feeling you playing a verison of the game that has the XVth bug still in it, there was a bug where when the XVth comes in, half of the fighter squadrons go missing (not really missing, they get placed on a AF that is not on the map, but over all, missing)

is your game current ? if so, if you want to send me the last save you made, I should be able to do the work around and get the missing squadrons back to you, drop me a PM if you want me to

if you are looking for order of battle information for the usa air forces in the med in ww2 I suggest the official Army Air Forces in ww2(7 vols) histories. You can view and download the pdf's from this official us airforce history website :

https://www.airforcehistory.hq.af.mil/P ... eindex.htm

Vol 3 of the Amry Air Force history contains detailed air order of battle diagrams for the Twelfth and Fifteenth Air Forces.

I recommend these official histories - they are well written and very informative.
