Naval attacks?

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Naval attacks?

Post by Fred98 »

I have not played the game.

Are aircraft assigned to naval attack? Or to anti submarine warfare?

If the Germans had stopped the convoys the aircraft would have had no parts, ammunition, fuel or pilots

These are outside the scope of the game - you can't allocate aircraft to these missions, but you dont get the sqds allocated to these roles either. The naval war is assumed to go historically if you like, although in BTR you sometimes gets ordered to attack U boat pens, or factories as 'political targets'. They reflect diversion (as Bomber Harris would say) of Bombers to indirectly support the navy.

no, but what if there was a mandatory requirement for a certain number of aircraft to be reassigned to Naval patrols (be it recon, anti-sub work or whatever). Say July - August 43, 3 SQN's of Wellies, Sept - Oct 43, 2 Wellie, one B-24.

You can pick the unit, but the unit is locked out for X days, and must be rotated with a different unit when the time is up. You'd have to have some kickback - come back with more XP, or certain AC upgrades or something. I'd quarantine losses - off map losses serve little point, save showing the random number generator is working...

Joe,

I think you would really enjoy these games when they arrive.

See if you can pick up a cheap copy of the originals.

Would be interesting if we were able to have a little control over the resources devoted to anti-sub and anti-shipping.

What if we had the option of diverting Coastal Command B17, B24 or Mosquito planes into other roles ? Have CC make do with Wellingtons or other planes surplus to Bomber Command requirements.

Some penalties for this could be more weight towards mandatory U-boat targets, or a BC unit could be snatched away from the order of battle as it is permanently sent to CC.
