Manual Chapter

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Manual Chapter

Post by typhoon »

Just downloaded some of the manual from the homepage. Much as it's appreciated I thought for one brief moment it was the game itself the Mrs was somewhat shocked at my girl like scream then sigh of dissappointment as it was then wasn't so to speak she's still not sure if I need medical treatment or not and keeps giving me her most serious of looks.

I suggest bribery and distraction for your significant others. You'll never convince them on this, so confuse them.

Thanks for the heads up guys but the link appears broken - "file not found".

I really appreciate the gesture in releasing a chapter but hey, it's not the 1980's and we're not looking inside a "General" magazine for a sample of the forthcoming Advanced Squad Leader manual, where in the days of snail mail lots of us at the time went "ooh, wow look at those new rules for machine guns"!

Is there any practical reason why a whole rulebook can't be released? As in GMT Games Living Rules or this brand new game just coming to market (pic below)?

It can't be piracy as they don't yet have the code and when they do get the disc - they'll then have the PDF manual too.

I'm grateful for the manual excerpt. That's some additional information while waiting for release.

First thoughts, this manual may not be set up for easy reading on a Kindle etc.

Unlike the Battles for the Bulge Manual it opens 2 pages to a screen - BFtB opens with just 1 which is perfect for e-reading.

Maybe WitE will have an e-book version too?

When I saw the manual excerpt, I let out an old fashioned rebel yell which scared the heck out of the dogs...and the wife. She didn't even get why I was so excited!

Now my strategy is to take my wife to Dinner every night between now and release to smooth over being locked in the computer room for the next month after that.

Cheaper to prepare her up front than pay the price afterwards[&o].

A BIG thanks to everyone involved.

It opened in my Kindle with the print way to small to even begin to read. Works better on my Android phone, but I'm still hopping for something that will work better on the Kindle.

Caught a typo, need to remove the comma between "headquarters, units" p128 - see highlight below.

(I caught it letting the PC read the PDF to me [:D]. Hey I'm getting over a cold)

Thanks for disclosing part of the manual, but looks to me that you still need to do some proof reading [;)]
calculated CV’s are fairly large numbers, so for ease of visualization the CV displayed on the unit counter on the map and in the unit bar are divided by 100 and rounded down, while the unit CV’s displayed in the combat resolution display have been reduced by a factor of 10 and rounded down. The CV displayed on a unit counter will not be less than one unless it is a HQ, depleted or routed unit (7.1.3), but realize that due to rounding, on-map units with a CV of one could have an actual CV that ranges between 1000 and 1999, a substantial spread (15.8).

if it's divided by 100 and rounded, looks to me the range is more like 100 and 199.

This game looks gorgeous: I hope we can get it for Christmas [&o]

EDIT: Or rather, between 0 and 199 since combat units which aren't depleted nor routed can't have a CV of zero.
