Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.
The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).
Appreciate but my guess is im screwed in my game vs Pelton until i can rebuild all of my guard units morale. As it wont fix what it took away.
As the patch pretty much dropped every single guard unit I had to NM and I had several close to 70 and above 70......and a 10 point morale shift on guard corps is a ton of lost CV esp when you factor 80+ guard Corps of various types I think I have.....
How many turns have you played with the patch? There might be an older save on the server you can go back to. Otherwise, you are screwed.
Yes, this is pretty bad, every unit has 10% chance each turn to revert to NM level (for that unit). Shame on us, the patch team, not to spot it in development.
I have the 5th turn under patch waiting on the server but not going to start it until the game is fixed...no use doing attacks to gain morale just to have it removed.
Only good thing is hopefully Peltons units lost morale to so it balances out some lol [:D]
Although this Moral bug doesn't appear to have done anything with current game with Sillyflower (we have only played 1 full turn with .05) we have both agreed to suspend any further turns until this fault has been corrected. As I for one don't want Sillyflower to attribute his inevitable defeat to a bug. [:-] [:D][:D][:D][:D]

1 - to try and solve the beta hot fix problems I was having I bought a steam version and only later saw that I could get a free steam key as I already own the game.
Is there a way I can get a refund and then get a free steam key. (I purchased the expansion deluxe version)
2 - How can I update the steam game to the latest version and then get a hot fix? It says use the version properties but on the Matrix members club site there is no mention about properties at all?
3 - does anyone have a solution about what to do with direct x. I tried to update to the latest direct x version but then it says nominate a directory to install into but when I try to do that it still says missing dll will not work.
I am finding the process with this hot fix very annoying. I never have had problems with Matrix updates before but this one has stopped me dead mid way through a game.

1. You just wasted $100. I really hope you get your money back.
2. You need to right-click on the game in Steam and open the Properties tab. There you can select beta updates. The game will then automatically update.
3. The hotfix has to be updated manually. First move your current WitE exe-file into a different folder. Then unzip the hotfix into you game folder. That's all you have to do. I would ignore the directX instructions unless you are playing on a really old computer.

I once bought the wrong game on Steam and explained it to customer service. They didn't give be my money back but at least they gave me a credit for the amount I spend so that I could buy different games on Steam. This might work for you as well.

Re 1. - since a while now, Steam is offering full refund for games that have been played less than 2 hrs. I'm not sure if this applies to ALL games on Steam (and/or you would still be below that threshold).
I would say it's worth a try to get the Steam refund and then get the Steam key from Matrix Games.
My two cents' worth here: NM 40 was a killer in 42. I had a position at the start of the 42 Spring that would have been an easily won game for the Soviets in earlier versions.
The Germans just went through my defenses and kept rolling. They didn't need anything fancy, just push. Morale melted away, nobody could hold anything, and I came within a handful of VPs of 260 auto-German victory. It didn't help that a lot of that happened in an earlier draft where Soviet supply levels were grossly inadequate for even defensive operations.
When NM firmed up in late 42, my situation improved just enough to avert disaster, and by February 1943 I finally had the initiative. But the German gains from the early war included Moscow, Leningrad, Yaroslavl and Ivanovo, and right up to Tambov.
So it was a long ways back. Only in Jan 1944 do I retake Moscow.
My high-quality 20 guards cav corps have been instrumental in this. Oh well. At least I got to play out a portion of 1944 against the not-yet-buffed Germans of 8.06.
its funny now because after the bug and nerf all my cav corps dropped to NM of 60 yet like all of them still have higher exp 5 still have like 69 exp lol.....Hoping that helps them get back to the above 70 they were at before the patch........
