How to Manually Assign Airstrikes

Post by alesha93 »

I must admit that I can't quite wrap my head around how air units work in WitE. I've read through the manual and I can't quite figure out how to manually assign planes to specific attacks. On the attached screenshot I've made a number of attacks during which the PC automatically assigned ground strike aircraft. Now I can't get any air support for ground strikes. There seems to be plenty of capacity for a strike.

I would like to manually assign some ground strikes but can't figure out how to do it. I've also attached a shot of one of the units near Leningrad. Seems like there is plenty of capacity for a strike.???

Could be that my air doctrine settings are messed up (they are on the default beginning settings). The air doctrine settings are a mystery as well despite how many times I read the manual.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello! Several things. I think it's easiest to just post a reply to your topic with another picture instead of a new topic :)

I believe you are talking about ground support, which is automatically flown bombers and fighter escorts for ground attacks. This is done without the player's input directly and is based on air doctrine. This is different from F6 Bomb Unit, F7 Bomb Airbase, F8 Bomb City, which can be automated or done manually in several grades, from 1) most automated of right click target and done, 2) left click staging air base right click target and done, to 3) left click staging air base, shift + right click target to select airgroups involved.

If you are on standard doctrinal settings, your percent to fly will be 50%. As you can see, your available level bomber groups have 15 and 19 planes, which is less than 50% of the 40 max per gruppe. That should be the problem here.
