Invisible Divisions?

Post by buffcoat »

Hi, I am currently playing the 41-45 campaign as Germany against the computer on normal and I have found an unusual bug.

At the end of Jan 45 the soviet offensive was pushing me back and six Rumanian Divs were surrounded and cut off to the NE of Rostov.

A weak attack was made on them the following turn which failed. The next week saw all the Soviet units abandon the Rumanians and head West to join the push toward Stalino.

From then on these six divs were able to wander around very slowly and have captured Rostov,Voroshilov and Stalingrad, it is now the first week of June 45 and two of the Divs are dead having had apparently random contact with Soviet units but they also displaced a dozen HQ's and airbases capturing a couple of hundred tons of fuel and supplies.

It looks to me that the AI can't see these Rumanian Divs because it would not base HQ's and airbases next to them nor would it fail to try and recapture these cities.

I have not upgraded to 1.05 yet.

In my experience the AI doesnt look 'backwards' and tends to forget enemy units it is not in 'touch' with. 1.05 probably will not make any diff. You will have to impose a 'house rule' not to take advantage of this.
Molotov : This we did not deserve.

Foch : This is not peace. This is a 20 year armistice.

I'm currently playing GC 41-45 as Soviet. Around October 41 I was able to ship several divisions to Rumania, and then I sent some more untis by amphibious assault mode. I managed to rout a couple of low grade Rumanian units and sent my units to capture Bucharest. This they did easily, almost no interference from the AI. I then thought this was not really 'historical', so I withdrew all my units and started to head back towards Odessa. I was certain the AI then sent a unit to Bucharet, but a a few turns later, I noticed a whole lot of units apparently 'surrounded' deep in Axis territory. On closer insepction, it turns out that Rumaina has surrendered and I now have a load of Rumainian units to 'help out'. Only after this happened did the AI decide it had to send Axos forces to Rumania, i expect to try and 'recapture'it!

I am now thinking about seeing if I can 'invade' Finalnd with a couple of divisions and see if they surrender....?
