brianG v tyronec anatomy of disaster all welcome

Post by BrianG »

another large war, Stalin called it quits when he finally lost his last city in his home country of Georgia. Heart broke. He was taken away, never to be seen again.

I'll start with the ending photos

i fully realize the end game would have looked different If the game was played bitter end versus vc290. I was unaware of the VC 290. Tyronec was not.

The East: I had trapped 2 Rumanian mountain divisions and was starting to feel giddy.

His rr line was still under zoc pressure, and these German troops near Chkalov would be on 3 turns of no supply. I was assuming after taking Gorky he would have moved panzers to other sectors but it is blizzard and would take time for him to get relief in the east.

My units cut off in the Guriev port area included a guards cav corp, a guards inf corp and 3 other infantry corp ( 2 surrendered trying to move North). As of this map these units are only 8 hexes separated from being resupplied. I think they would have been rescued next turn.

In the last 2 turns Tyronec took both Penza and Arazmir in direct frontal assualt.

I was starting to retreat from this area after i lost these cities. I would try and hold Gorky though.

far north

Ive cut off a german inf div.

But this whole area would have been fought differently the last few turns by Tyronec if it had been bitter end

turn 77 kia.

I thought the German army was starting to wear down. Are casualties heavy for the Germans at this stage?

As to German losses not really....in 1942 the axis can afford to lose around 30k men a week all told without any serious negative effects.

His forces were in action for 2 straight years except for mud and even then he moved infantry. 860,000 kia seems high.

I will not discuss my puny force, it was improving at the end.

But, unfortunately, the partisans war is really useless atm. I had maybe 15 cuts in the entire war, maybe more but certainly not nearly enough for how many men surrendered (or escaped into the forest).

many frame recap turn 1

Post by BrianG »

so my nw front hq and nw air hq end up in nowhere land, northwest of Riga. good start.

and then i try and figure out how many bombs each stuka drops. 66 bombers destroy 266 planes . They must have cluster bombs.

turn 1 final positions south.

Allowing the middle troops to get cut off is a major turn 1 issue.

If they allow this to continue, the trapped units, (the frozen ones ), should get enhanced mp's for Russian turn 1.

and the north. Nothing to do here. My NW army hq is lost and will need to wait for game update to the beta so that I can destroy them and get them back onsides.

Tyronec will leave them to wither alone by the coast. Game fubar.

south open

and before a beta update, my SW hq decides to route here from there.

Really far and very unhelpful.

I am clearly looking for some pity points.
