Balanced ruleset for noobs?

Hi, I am trying to get some of my friends into the game to try out multiplayer. I would probably play Soviet since I haven't tried them yet and that way it would be more "even". Long term I also really enjoy the freedom the Soviets have to customize their army.

What ruleset would you advise or is generally accepted to have the best balance possible (win conditions, Soviet +1 or not, mild/normal Blizzard, etc.)?
