Bombs vs Rockets against AFVs

Post by Uxbridge »

I have done some tests with tactical air units against armour. It's a bit odd. When I check the Weapons Data, it says that 1000lb MC Bomb has an anti-armour factor of 138, whereas the 8 x RP-3 SAP Rocket has 0. Still, all the trials I make shows the rocket coming out on top; roughly being five times as effective as the bomb. Am I reading the data wrong? Shouldn't the number be as high as possible to achieve the best result?

The US P-47Ds used HVAR rockets which could penetrate 4ft. of reinforced concrete, used during the normandy campaign. That could blow any tank i think.

The RP-3 SAP i do not know about this one, seems british made. I am curious to see the answers.

Afaik, anti-armor is used for the HA hits. Rockets have penetration values used in AP hits.

Micheljq: I can't see that this rocket is in the game.

Helpless: Don't understand your answer, but it might have to do with my question being vague. I will look around a bit to see what I can find.

No, is there anywhere one can see bombs, rockets and such? There's nothing in the Commander's report.

They are under equipment->weapons (switch on the top).

Found it. But the anti-armor efficiency is still '0' for this rocket, although its actual proficiency seems good. Just a little confused. [8|]

Is it the HEAT value? That could explain it.

All penetration values are used to hit armor type targets (AP). HE also can hit AFVs, in such case anti-armor value is used.
