An update on the exe we released:

Although it improves some things, we found it can still fail in forming a good line in the Breakout & Pursuit scenario (and can do a few other odd things). By adding some data to some of the scenario files we have a line forming function that seems to perform better. We're testing this now, and if it works out, we'll try to put out an update in January with both exe and scenario changes that should improve the AI. In the meantime we encourage players to use the exe in this thread and let us know if you see any problems (either with the AI or with any of the other changes). Just be sure to let us know that you are using this hotfix exe in any forum post with feedback. Thanks.

Only air transfer mode (F10) as playing Axis in GC slowing down map scroll speed in my laptop. When zoomed out it is fine in this mode with latest exe. I think it uses more CPU pwr.

v1.02.08 – 12 December 2017
Hey Joel,
I am running v1.02.08 – 12 December 2017 update to assess the "defensive line shifts" aka "the enemy running away" issue in the smaller scenarios, like Italy.

I didn't start a new game, but rather used the new exe and started playing with a save I have been playing for Battleground Italy 43-45. There definitely is a difference vs. past plays vs. the AI Axis. The Axis troops formed north of Rome (which is the point where I installed the new exe) and are generally standing their ground. They even counterattacked a few weak stacks I had left. They also moved towards Rome because I had left a hole N of Rome there (leaving Rome with 2 HQ units only) to test to see if they would react towards Rome. They did! They bounced the HQs. However in doing so, they left a big hole in there defensive line which I ran through next turn and have them outflanked on the Western coast. Interesting.

I should have more time to test this weekend, but it does play better. Not the unnecessary melee scramble back to a new def. line that we have seen prior to this. Very encouraging and thanks for addressing it.

Picture attached: Note the pockets of Axis resistance as the line falls back and some AX stacks remain in pockets protecting cities, etc.

Best,
BigBog

Just to close the loop, the new 1.02.15 public beta should address the issue of the AI immediately retreating in some of the scenarios. Please give the new beta a try and let us know if you see any issues. Thanks.
