Sluggish Performance During Air Relocation Mode

Post by feldwebel87 »

For some reason when I hit F10 and move my aircraft around to different airbases, the performance of the game takes a serious hit. Moving the map around is extremely sluggish. Is this normal, or could it be an indication of needing additional ram?

Interestingly enough, it looks like I only have this problem in the grand campaign. Operation Husky, for example, doesn't have this problem.

lets take a look, and then will be able to give a better and more correct reply and answer,

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

once the report has been made, just attach it to your post with first adding the file to a zip, which is then permitted to attach to the forum

just my opinion

Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 14393) (14393.rs1_release.161110-2025)

Memory: 4096MB RAM (base memory)

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

Display Memory: 6068 MB
Dedicated Memory: 4020 MB
Shared Memory: 2047 MB

leaving windows alone 2gb, which is barely enough imo, so yes more ram would also help

plus limit what you have loaded on startup, so if it's not needed and or used on every boot, disable it, which will free up more resources and also lesson the impact on the cpu in game

I have more ram on the way which is good. Is windows 10 using 2 GB by itself?

the 64bit can use as much as you have, if you let it, so depends on what you have loads in regards to what it uses atm, eg free resources

with the more apps and programs you have loaded at a given time, the more resources it will need and use

Image

as you can see, 3 tabs open in google chrome and already it's using almost 1gb of ram, just for a browser to use, as chrome uses a method of safe access, eg one fails, the other pages don't, so crashes only effect a given page, but the over heads used for it, is more memory uses, eg resources

so the more apps you have pre loaded on startup and open once your using windows, the less amount of free resources you will have for the game, while freeing up apps is easy on startup and boot, background apps are another thing, but in general use less anyway, most of the time, unless you have a none game friendly AV etc

F10 mode is one of the most demanding. Systems low on CPU/memory resources are expecting to experience slow downs when air transfer is on.

Is it possible I can disable air range circles when I filter by aircraft model in F10 screen. That seems to slow it down more.

Not at the moment. Based on code diagnostics tools air range circles do not add much (+3-5%).

I'll take a look at the air transfer mode for possible code optimization.

I just doubled my ram and there is very little difference. Maybe I am just expecting it to go quicker when it just doesn't?
