US 8th AF city bombing missions start in Noto

Post by sermil »

I haven't found any post on this subject but it is rather obviously a bug: when playing the 1943-45 campaign scenario, the US 8th AF city bombing missions targetting German cities all have default starting base in Noto Sicily. This makes the missions fail of course and there's no workaround apparently. My other complaint would be the fact that I cannot avoid losing points bacause of V-Weapons, no matter how much I bomb the launch sites and despite the red colour of the missile on-map icons. Would you have a solution to these problems? For me the game is unplayable.

there is a problem of the game selecting a med town as the staging post.

There is fortunately a simple solution, set this to something in E Anglia (as I'd guess this is where 8 AAF is based). It also helps if you re-use existing ADs, I tend to have a batch set up and sometimes suspend them, or shift the target focus and that makes life a lot easier.

v-weapons, you need to bomb the factories too, the main ones are up around Stettin, there are some more south of Hannover and around Munich.

Once the allies have captured all the launch sites, they no longer are a problem but this is physical control not bombing.

So don't think either is a bug. The first is a bit of a small problem but its one that is easy to catch. The second is WAD.

Bring out the Dead!

Campaign Game, extra HQ's.

My problem is recon missions, that were set up to start in East Angilia, the next turn the start position changes to Noto (153,295). Manually, change it back, and next turn it is back.

Only work around I have found is to delete the AD and reset up. It lasts for a few turns, before returning to Noto (153,295).

Wide spread, happens to many units, but it is only recon units, for now. Aug 19, 1944 turn.
