Good setting for use of AI AD creation

Post by Tazak »

While I try to find time to wrap my head around the new air war (looks good) I am using the AI to set my ADs, I find that in terms of VP there is a big hit (between -45 and -65) per turn for 1-3 turns while the air war gets into full swing then after 5-6 turns I reduce that down and can maintain a small positive +1 or more - happy with that somewhat but I'm wondering if there any better settings that I can use to reduce the hit of negative VPs in the first few turns.

What is your experience of using the AI for AD creation

The first turn or two I usually move my fighters and bombers in England closer to the coast so I always take a hit on Strategic Bombing the first few turns. The first turn or two I usually don't fly deep into Germany, but just bomb the Ruhr to let supply catch up to the transfers. If you want the max VP's for bombing (which isn't much) each turn, hit the targets that give VP's like oil/fuel and such. The bombing campaign can take a couple of months to see some good results, just keep re-coning your bomb strikes. Once you can make deep strikes into Germany, you will cripple their movement and air sorties from the lack of fuel. Make sure you check the entire map for oil/fuel targets, because Ploesti is not the only large oil area on the map, that's bombable.

I'm not saying oil/fuel is the only answer either, you have to adjust your bombing as the game progresses to achieve what your after.
