Recruiting for Gary Grigsby's A World Divided Re-Master Beta Test

Gary Grigsby’s World at War is back with a whole new set of features. World at War: A World Divided still gives complete control over the production, research and military strategy for your side, but in this new updated version you’ll also be able to bring spies into the mix as well as neutral country diplomacy, variable political events and much more. Perhaps the largest item is the ability to play a special Soviet vs. Allies scenario that occurs after the end of World War II.

Recruiting for Gary Grigsby's A World Divided Re-Master Beta Test

Post by Erik Rutins »

Hi everyone,

Some of you may have played and enjoyed Gary Grigsby's A World Divided in past years.

https://www.matrixgames.com/game/gary-g ... ld-divided

It's a grand strategy title covering all of World War II, from Europe to the Pacific. We often heard it described as "Axis and Allies on steroids".

The good news for fans of this type of gameplay is that we have a new version of A World Divided which we're planning to re-launch on our store and perhaps some other platforms in the near future.

This new version includes full PBEM++ support for up to 5 player games(!) as well as support for high resolution screens and modern operating systems.

We're looking for wargamers to help us test out this new version in a roughly 4 week beta test before we proceed to the release. If you are willing and able, please sign up here and we'll get you on the team in the coming days:

This is a standard browser warning because the page is http:// instead of https://. There's no actual danger there but some browsers will throw up a warning.

Until we get the new beta system turned on, I don't believe there's anything we can do to change this. For now, please just ignore it and continue to the application.

Regards,

- Erik

Good to hear from you again Erik, and it's great to hear this old war horse has been put in. Question: Any talk about trying to remaster the old "Mini Battles"/Animations from the original GG's WAW? That is one thing I missed with the re-release.

In any case, I look forward to how things go!

Just a side note that the certificate issue which caused warnings on some browsers with the link above has now been fixed.

Sorry, but this re-master was focused only on adding in multi-player PBEM++ (which is working very well so far and a lot of fun!) and high resolution support.

If we do a sequel to AWD in the future, we would certainly be looking to improve a lot of the production values further, likely including some new animations.

Also, for those who may be interested, there is an ongoing 4 player AAR in the AAR sub-forum here:

This is really exciting news!

World at War is, by far, my favorite PC war game. The only thing that it was missing is the PBEM support and the higher resolution. I'd worked around the resolution by editing a config file, but this will breathe new life into a game that really deserves more attention.

Eagerly awaiting release, and signed up for the beta if you need help.

FYI, those that have signed up as testers should be let into the tester forum in the next day or two.

Is it a sub forum of this one? Just to know where to look if I am in or not.

No, you'll find it at the bottom of the list of forums. AFAIK, Erik hasn't yet let the testers in, but it should be by early next week if not sooner.

Well the USA AI still has issues on invading Europe, so there is more needed than just MP and Resolution support. I guess working on improving the AI is not intended?
