Axis Blitz scenario

Gary Grigsby’s World at War is back with a whole new set of features. World at War: A World Divided still gives complete control over the production, research and military strategy for your side, but in this new updated version you’ll also be able to bring spies into the mix as well as neutral country diplomacy, variable political events and much more. Perhaps the largest item is the ability to play a special Soviet vs. Allies scenario that occurs after the end of World War II.

Axis Blitz scenario

Post by ncc1701e »

Trying Axis Blitz scenario against Axis powers, Germany is invading France in Fall 1939 without any problem. Those Tactical Bombers are not a little too strong? And the French have no longer any air planes.

You can hold till the normal time. I don't know what you choose to do for placement and build but Germany didn't attack in my test just now. I didn't change the positioning of the French at all just built the 4 tanks in the que first turn. I've played this scenario for years now and have no issues. Are you not building the French units sitting in the que at position 1? Are you choosing the tanks first to put to the field over the infantry or artillery? They are all the same cost to place so it's a no-brainer to start with the tanks first, then infantry second, then arty third.

Anyway, if by some fluke the 1% chance happens that France falls like this just restart. It would take like 1 minute to return to this point in the game.

During the first turn, the AI blew up all my rails in France.

Now, what I did is the following. Since I think I have understood how to counter the combined arm bonus. I decide to try a new method against the AI.

Thinking that a tactical air was missing for the French and some fighters to cover them, I decide to buy them for 1940. So I did not increase the size of my land armies.

And, then, the AI did crush France the next turn. A smart move from my side indeed.

Right. It is pointless to try and build French air. Just use the units at position 1 to hold France till the right time. The first two build sets are very important. The third time France gets to build is totally optional since they are going to fall that turn anyway. So, you got some options here. Either go and build the final set to increase Germany's force requirement and potential damage to them or turn some of those production points into tech instead. I sometimes use the tech option and let Germany have a slightly easier time taking France in the Spring 1940.
