Changed screen resolution and now game won't load

After using this forum to solve the problem of the game not saving (I had to manually create a save folder in the dat folder), I hope my current problem has a solution also.

I am running WAW:AWD version 1.04. I ran the game, and went into the preferenes screen and changed the resoltion to 1280 x 970. Now, when I try to run the game, the window opens to the required dimensions, but then I get the message the program has encountered a problem and needs to close. This happens everytime I try to run the game.

Is there a solution or do I have to uninstall and then re-install from scratch?

Woh! I guess this must be a Windows related problem.

After several failed attempts to run the game, it now works fine.

Fingers crossed it continues to do so.

However, I would be interested to know why the installation routine for the game neglected to create a save folder in the dat folder. I'm not being picky, but surely you shouldn't have to hunt in a forum so as to be able to save your game?
