This was so good, I registered for the Matrix forums just to tell you!!

Any chance of you doing another but with the roles reversed?? It'd be interesting to see if you've learn from what your opponent did and what you'd do with the other side.

Also a Soviet v Allies would be cool!!

Did you think about reporting the game at the ladder? A draw won't hurt any of you (+20 each), and it'll help to get things going. Thanks for considering. [:)]

Thanks for validating the 20 - 45 minutes I spent to post some of the turns. I almost have it down to a science now, but if rushed you run the danger of missing the forest for the trees ... and like a rose, sometimes you need to stop and smell the casualties [;)]

I would enjoy try to rain on Forwarn45's "all Axis world party" , but with the rapid assimilation to the games new features, Forewarn45 certainly possesses all the tools to spoil that plot.

My fancy would be for Forwarn45 and I to team up against two opponents for a friendly taunting and run a 2x2 to its completion to set a good example of the best way to play the game, and encourage players to start ( and complete [:-]) some 2x2's. I also signed up at the "battle league" remember to post if your login there has a different name.

Excellent AAR. How did you both feel sigint and spies impacted the game?

I can't comment for Forwarn45 but I found investing in Japanese spies helped get my German fighters to 2 and bombers to 4 speed, other than that I concentrated on security to slow the Russians, I think the Wallies benifited from spies on Germany and as I was always seemingly ahead until in tech till the end phase spending on spies seemed wasteful. I did try and maintain both sigint and security in the high teens. With Japan I avoided spending much at all here but at the end I did spend on sigint but really to no avail. What I did find with Japan is if you dont watch your sigint it will disappear to 0 on you giving the enemy an easy +1 when attacking.

I'm glad you liked the AAR. As to sigint and spies, my recollection is a little hazy -- but I think I made more of an initial investment in 1940 and then added some later in the game in 1943 and 1944. Spies were helpful in the early years in stealing tech and sometimes research and production data, but this seemed to dry up for a while in the mid-game. As to sigint, I think I maintained a sigint advantage over Japan -- but I think Germany and the WA remained pretty close until 1944. I probably over-invested in security - particularly for the WA.

Was really a fascinating AAR.

This alternative outcome of the war is actually much better than the real one. Soviet-communism is greatly weakened. There'll be no cold war. There'll be no lost decades for Eastern/Central Europe. Also no splitting of Germany.

Only thing really worse than reality is the dropping of the a-bomb on Germany :(

Thanks for sharing.
