Spring of '44 and "Big Red" finally advances in a truly massive combined arms offensive.

An attempt to attrition the Germans in Turkey is a disappointment, however.

Ouch!
That battle decided who will win this match.
I thought I had enough armor to deny combined arms, but I must have been mistaken.
It does appear that massed soviet artillary is the best soviet strategy. If the soviets achieve 30-40 art units by 44 its lights out for Germany. I wonder what the effect would be if artillary cost 3?
6 supply in Poland and 7 in Romainia, so they all decided to retreat to Romainia for extra rashons I guess.

I would have felt bad about capitlizeing on a lend lease mistake I am sure Forwarn did not intend to make off the coast of N Russia, but after that East front battle I will take what I can get.

Good game and Forwarn45 might just be the one who wins this tournament!

Maybe the effect is that high because of the stacking of suppression during the artillery fire? Unless I'm mistaken each artillery unit benefits from others that have fired at the same target, that might be something to tweak.

Great AAR from both of you by the way, this is AWD at a high level! [8D]

Summer of '44. The Soviets move forward into Eastern Europe as the Germans prepare defenses in rear areas. But the big news is in the West. After years of inaction, the British and American air and naval power hits the Germans in France in multiple waves - hitting the German shoreguns and heavily suppressing the German ground troops in preparation for a fairly historical D-Day.

By the way, India is in extreme jeopardy having been effectively blockaded by the Japanese fleet. But that is not a subject for polite conversation in Allied circles. [;)]

Well I though a garrison of 3 8x8 infantry and 3 militia and 2 art and flak would do a much better job of holding off D DAy.
But 50% of the coastal artillary was knocked out by a fighter getting a auto hit and the art rolling bombard 1.
When the WA nuclear bombs fell on France for 3 months everyone in the country was dead, damaged or crying for there mommys. Compounded bombard damgage left the army completely useless.

It would take a garison of at least 10-15 units on each coastal tile to stop D Day if the Allies have nukes and Battleships.

Germans withdraw after taking back Romainia for a season or 2.
A 4x4 sub is damaged in the atlantic by tf auto hit, great[:(]

Since Germany will be signing surrender papers in a turn or 2 the Japs take matters into there own hands.
India is conqured except for one area which is unsupplied.

Russia is invaded since it is undefended and a bit to close to the Main Island.
Japs are getting better at hunting US subs in the Pacific and 2 are taken out of action this season.

Current situation

Current unit totals before Jap builds.
Notice only 12 WA transport fleets floating around.
76 have been destroyed and 12 damaged, but It does not stop them.

Ouch! Allied transport losses have been enormous and Allied high command is concerned about how to bring down the Japanese juggernaut. The A-bomb is actually not quite here just yet, as heavy bombers have level 8 tech. And the Soviets are paying the price for not dispatching a defensive force to the Far East in '44. All in all, I think the Allies have a tough fight on their hands!

But back to Fall of '44 - the Soviets move into the Balkans and (temporarily, no doubt) severs the connection between Germany and Italy. Meanwhile, the Western Allies move against Spain. Spanish AA claims a few victims during the prepatory air assault (not shown) - but it clears the way for the Allied version of "blitzkrieg."

Axis Winter45

The noose is closing around Germany.
Italy will be out in 6 months or so.
Japan is our only hope of pulling a draw.

Screenshot shows the strong Allied Navy presence in the Med.
First time this game really, thanks to my lucky break of Spain Joining Axis.

Winter 45 Wolf Packs did very well or at least better than I expected.
Its to bad the Italian subs will defect when Italy falls.

The Allies liquidate the traitorous Vichy French regime (at least on the continent) and hit the Allied air and naval forces in the Med. I forgot to take a screenshot, so I had to use replay. Anyway, here is the first air part of the battle. Meanwhile, the Soviets take up a position in Poland and the Western Allies move in to the Low Countries (more forces moved there after this screenie). Japan is still a nagging concern.

Spring45 Axis

Italy is still in the game and summuns air power stationed in Sicily to remove the 3 WA Heavy fleets floating in our territorial waters. All vitchy are transfered to the Boot for some wine.

Troops from Check are transferred to the Father land for there last stand.

WA has the bomb officially now and is gathering multiple sub fleets in the pacific.
There evil plan no doubt is to sink a couple transports and watch a very strong Japan just give up. (kinda rubs me this rule, Japan should be allowed a turn to re-establish its links to resources)

Gkar, I can't disagree with your assessment. 1943-1944 has seen consistently good play from MrQuiet while I think I've been shortsighted in certain respects (that I'll share after the game). [;)] But for now, the game continues.....
