Allied Summer 42 (cont) -

In the Indian Ocean theatre the face off continues ... a British CV group gets a little payback for Pearl Harbor with a lucky autohit on a Japanese BB lurking in the Java Sea.

Axis FA 42

EDIT:

Germany Some sorties by german CAGs ended up with a Brittish Battleship damaged.
In Norway the German High command fears an attack by allied troops, an evacuation was considered but then the WA could land and stablish airbases to bomb Germany[:-] so at the end it was decided to leave an Italian garrison and evacuate a veteran german infantry.
We fear Sweden will also be gobble up ( as it has happened)
Some rail bombing in Smolensk was all the action seen in Russia

Japan

A LF was destroyed of the coast of India, and artyllery destroyed in Hawai
Australia is being invaded the advance towards Sidney keeps going on, a Elite unit was damaged in the process [:@]

Allied Fall 42 - Europe

The Russians overrun the rest of Scandinavia ... air strikes score three rail hits and a resource in central Russia, Poland & Hungary. The Germans mistakenly loaded a fighter on a transport in the Kattegat (rather than flying it as an escort) ... both are destroyed by a raiding British LS.

Allied Fall 42 - Pacific

WA forces find a weak link in Japan's southern perimeter ... B-17s from Southern India, with BB support and a CAG strike knock out the Japanese HB and arty defending Sumatra. Two invading militia seize Java from a lone AA unit. Heavy reinforcements of infantry, artillery and flak are shipped in to reestablish the Malay Barrier. Many tasty transports left for the Japanese to munch on, but US shipyards will build more.

Interesting campaign going on in Australia ... the valiant Aussies are squeezed into the deep southern reaches of their island continent; a 25% chance of an Australian surrender this turn (of course Victoria won't surrender as long as WA ground units are there(.

Germany

CAGs stationed in W. France damaged two more BB, on the other side a ride on Brittish Factories ended up with one HB damaged.
A TF was sunk in the Atlantic

In Kharkov Tac Bombers were exchange one damaged each.

Japan

The loss of the Southernwest defensive perimeter was hard blow, seeing how the Russian campaign is developing it should have been delayed and the Brittish empire crushed, the African campaign should not have been abandoned and India should have been conquered... well too late now.
The Japanese attack the Brittish fleet sinking two LF and 3 TF.

On the other side of the Pacific Hawai is invaded.

Sidney assault is temporaly halted, hopefully...

Allied Winter 43 - (Europe)

Europe is quiet; Russians repositioning troops from Scandinavia and trying to match the German buildup in Kharkov ... over 120 units in the opposing armies (including 9 German panzer corps in Belorussia). On the Western front the air forces continue to buildup; the RAF reoccupies its bases in southern England after spending several turns hiding in Scotland. The only combat involves a WA LS scoring an autohit on a U-boat in the North Atlantic.

Allied Winter 43 - (Pacific Theatre)

The Allied counter offensive continues. CV reinforcements arrive; with the help of P47s and B17s from Southern India they launch a successful strike on 2 Japanese CVs withdrawing from the Bay of Bengal; a Japanese transport and resource are also taken out. The Malay Barrier starts to look secure.

I think Lady Luck was with the allies this time. The attack on the japanese flattops was made by 3 Cags and one Level Bomber. Japanese Cags have higer evasion rate than allied by one 7 to 6, same air attack rate.
Now look at the dice rolled by the allies:

CAG: 1017 all fives but a six [:@]
CAG: 50 autohit-->+21 [:@][:@]

Jap CAG 866 three 2 die rolls [:(]
Jap CAG 954 three 1 die rolls [:(][:(]

Oh well this is the payback for the attacks on the West Coast [:D]

Germany

Stalemate over the eastern front.
Italian and german troops decide to go for Arabia after the Soviets taking Finland and Sweden, resources are needed, also strategically we can close the Read Sea with artillery, we should have gone earlier for Arabia and not been so civilized [:D]
The rest of the turn was about moving units here and there.

Japan
For now it has to adopt defensive measures to secure its south-western perimeter. This hasn't prevented a landing in Papua to improve sea lanes transportation.

For three turns the axis has been at 70 victory points, one from the first threshold [:(]

Allied Spring 43 - (Europe)

The Russians continue to buildup in preparation for the main event on the Eastern Front.

In the West the Luftwaffe high command has miscalculated ... it was time to withdraw German aircraft from France.

In Western France the Luftwaffe had 4 FTRs, 2 CAGs, 2 HBs; they were struck by a WA force of 10 FTRs, 3 HBs, 1 LB. The British battleship sailors cheered to hear of the destruction of the feared German torpedo squadrons.

Allied Spring 43 - (Indian Ocean)

In the theatre formerly known as the Pacific, a relief operation is launched to reinforce Australia w/3 INF ... in a covering operation the WA navy goes convoy raiding, steaming through the Sunda Strait to take down 5 Japanese trannies.

Veteran B-17 wings from Southern India destroy oil fields in Malaya & Saudi Arabia.

Axis Su43

Germany

The Kriegsmarine sails into the Atlantic, it's two LF engae in combat in NA6 1 LF against 1 Engilsh LF and 2 transports: both LF damaged In NA2 1 LF vs 1LF & 1TF: both LFs damaged. Good enough for the Germans two less LFs to hunt uboats and since my LF got damaged they returned home instead of being left stranded in mid Atlantic to be destroyed. After this attacks all subs were sent to engage TF all score hits but the italian one.

In Russia: still calmbut may go any moment. A soviet HB damaged in BAku.

We expect heavy bombing raids next turn [:@] areas reinforced with flak.

Japan

The lose of five trannies really hampers japanese troop moves. Attack on Melbourne had to be postponed "sine die" situation kind of critical.

Germany Fa 43

Spain, Algeria are reinforced, the uboat campaign continues although it is most probably lost allies have ASW=3, still as long as I can damaged or destroy TF the WA will have it more difficult to move troops around and get resources.
2 TF damaged and 2 destroyed for 1 sub damaged.

Western Front looks like this

Allied Fall 43 - Europe

A Russian armor blitzes into undefended Hungary, trashing the rails, resource & factory. 5 Sturmovik Corps hit the rail yards in Rumania - elite unit scores an autohit on the defending Rumanian fighter. The northern Russian army group moves towards East Prussia.

The massive German concentration in Kiev is now in awkward position; Germany lacks sufficient supply to move the entire force and will need to repair rails simply to get supplies to them.

Russia takes Northern Persia to seize the resources and cut off free trade with Germany.

With Vichy in the war the Western Allied 5-range HBs can now fly through Northern Italy to service targets unprotected by Me-262. They take out the rails in Yugoslavia, 4 resources, 1 trannie and a Stuka. A Morocco-based B-25 bags another trannie, leaving 1 Italian trannie in the Med.

This leaves Axis positions in the Middle East cut off from resupply from Europe; the WA forces in the Indian theatre attempt to exploit this situation by bombing out the refinery in Iraq and moving an army into Southern Persia for a winter assault into Iraq against the immobilized defenders.

ASW work is a minor disaster; 2 scarce LSs are damaged with 2 Italian subs destroyed. CV strikes in the Pacific also go poorly ... 3 CAGs kill a single Japanese trannie, score 2 misses against a single Japanese BB. 1 Japanese SUB damaged by a LS and 1 Jap HB damaged by a WA HB. Four Allied 8/8 fighters launch against two Japanese 6/6 fighters in SE Asia with poor results; 2 Japs destroyed but 2 WA damaged.

It does indeed look ugly for the Axis, I'm considering avoid a bath blood, but then it is the allied player to have fun after the hard endurance he took the first years of war.

Chrish I will send you the turn tomorrow afternoon (july 1st local time)

Wi44

Germany

Mainly a defensive turn, only attack made was by a lonely sub near the coast of Canada where it sunk a lonely Transport.
With the fall of Hungary all hungarias militias in Yugoslavia dissapeared and had to be replaced, another handicap, at least the brave russian armour was destroyed.
Railways were repaired in order to bring supplies to Rumania and evacuate some units mainly inf and arty since moving armour units is twice the cost.
