Russia China Winter 42

I found it quite lucky that the germans were able to take out a defending fighter and tac with flack support in Lenningrad durring first Russian winter with only 1 Stuka squadran thus allowing him to gain combined arms. Stuka scored auto hit in air to air against my fighter durring first Russian winter. I doubt I could have pulled that off and thus would not have even tried. Luck does indeed seem to be running very high on the German side this game, but for how long?

Well I did pull off that one and get a bit less than 50% to take Leningrad and failed. The things that make me try this is the risk to loose a TAC against the chance to get combined arms. Without that I would have had to pull out of Finland or you would have slaughtered my troops there as you did in Kiev and pulling out of Finland means loosing Norway and being in defense on the Eastern Front. To avoid this loosing a TAC is cheap. [:(] If only I would have thought of trying this one last turn during Fall and I might have taken Leningrad out. (For info I still had some HVY bombers at distance to finish the job in case).

With the Wallies knocking at my Western door and you doing this kind of attack againts Kiev it won't be long before the 3rd Reich is fully on the defense.

Not taking Leningrad and Kharkov are the nails on my coffin that the lack of UBoats is creating on the West.

Now the momentum for Germany is gone, it's only Winter 1942 and Russia as you said can take those losses. I think it's the beginning of the end for the Axis.

Strange game.

Germany:

Ouch, We managed to push back Russian armies from Kiev but in doing so foregone our chances to take Leningrad and were pushed back there again. Too many losses alltogether and Germany will stop to expand for now... till we can resumet it later [:D]

Greece did backstab us and our Intelligence Headmaster just saw his head roll but this lack of vision

Russia is already feeling free to send troops East which is good news for Germany... (hmmm... I think)

The Allied seems enjoying sinking our Navy.

Berlin is still away from the frontline but for how long now??? [X(]

Japan Spring '42
The Japanese are overstretched a little, trying to maintain three axes of attack at the same time. We send reinforcements to Siberia and bomb the Russian railroads to keep them from sending troops East. The Russians are low on supplies, given the difficulties in Lend Lease and the furious battles against Germany, so hopefully this will keep them from mounting much of a counterattack.

The glorious IJN takes Hawaii, securing our Eastern flank. I would propose bombing Midway just for fun, but the militia at Pearl shot down an elite CAG, so perhaps not. (I took a screenshot of this rather aggravating moment, but for some reason it didn't make it into my save directory. Apparently Hoversnap doesn't think much of autohits either).

A factory in India was bombed and Borneo taken.

Russia/China Spring 42

I certainly had the feeling that the Germans would hit hard in a counter attack but I was not expecting so many 'bombard evasion 1' against his superior artillary numbers. It cost me many destroyed units that would have been much more effective if they could roll 5 or 6 like his units did.

Still not to worried about Mother Russia getting over run anytime soon though.
Artillary does not take ground.
In the end we will push Jerry back to there homeland and then crush them like they so deserve!

SS is situation before Russian builds.

Summer 1942:

Germany:

The troops in Scotland will fight till... well till they can as the transport fleets of Germany are busy elsewhere [:(]

Leningrad was left without any ART or Bombers so after some Air + Naval support from the Italian Navy in the Baltic [:D] we manage to finaly conquer this mighty city. A bit late to do any good but the pleasure of victory we had to retreat the troops from Kiev. The Russian air force shows some teeth and it's bad news.

An attack against Greece was repulsed [:@] but we managed to liberate Bulgaria and Albania.

An attack against the British navy on the shore of France ended up with 2 transports sunked but 1 of our CAGS damaged.

Japan Summer '42
The Emperor cheers the fall of Leningrad. With the Russians the Allied weak link we rush troops to this front to keep the pressure on.
We also continue to fortify our new port at Pearl Harbor (nice beaches) and gobble up miscellaneous South Pacific islands.

Russia/China Summer42

It was indeed a loss to lose the port of Lenningrad we will miss that HF and Sub.
But the good news is the Liberation of England [:'(]
Now that the Brittish Isles are back in the correct hands the world already seems like a better place and the Axis advance may become the Axis retreat soon enough.

Russian Airforce had some good training missions this season hurting HB airfields in Romainia and destroying Italian Shipping in the Med.

Fall 1942:

Germany:

Nothing more to gain after Leningrad. Fortress Europa needs to be created from scratch now that the UK Isles are indeed governed by the Queen again. Business seems almost like pre-war with factories popping up like crazy.

The future doesn't look as bright as we'd like but Berlin is not in sight yet. [;)]

Nothing special accomplished this turn beside freeing Greece.

Turn send to our Ally.

Japan Fall '42
How quickly things turn. The W.Allies deploy strong forces to Rangoon backed by air support. He's short on transports, though, and will have trouble supplying those carriers presently docked in Australia. The Russians also send strong forces East, in spite of the clear strategic logic behind a Germany-first approach to the war. We reinforce our borders and take comfort in the fact that our factories are running at full capacity, at least for now.

In a dazzeling display of Soviet Tactics a very undefended Romainia has been taught a harsh lesson for aggressing us.

Spring 1943:

Germany:

As Kondor wrote, something went wrong for the Axis. After loosing England we could expect the world to be ours but then if Barbarossa is delayed because of it, it means a stronger Russia to fight and that makes the big difference. As well as what Japan sees that fighting Russia and the US is a very hard task.

The Wallies are never to be underestimated as they can move as they want mostly and you can't get rid of them.

Well now is to see how long we can last. The fight is in North Africa now. Russia will claim back Leningrad next turn and then surely begin to push West.

Good luck.

Japan Spring 1943
To add to Phil's comment, I think we collectively blew it in 1942. Following his masterful invasion of England we should have delayed Barbarossa to consolidate in the West, while Japan should have got after every W. Allied strat point she could get her hands on. This would, I think, have given us an autovictory.

By trying instead to take down Russia we played into the only remaining Allied strength. Live and learn.

This turn the Japanese consolidate their fast-shrinking empire. We still have significant power at sea, if the Allied can be drawn in to the right kind of fight. In hindsight I should have withdrawn my carriers from Pearl a turn earlier.

A US transport off San Diego shoots down a HBomber with an autohit. The plane is destroyed as I had just moved my transports. Argh.

To compensate somewhat, a valiant militia unit infiltrates behind the Russian Siberian front, cutting off the Soviet army there. This should buy us a turn or two.

I was in the production phase when I noticed I left that area open to a lone unsupplied militia.
That is exactly why I dont like to play when I am tired.
No big deal in the grand scheme, but it pains me to do something so stupid.

Russia/ China
Spring 1943

Lenningrad has been reclaimed without a shot fired, it seems maybe the evil Jerrys have seen the errors of there ways and would like to humbally withdraw and forget about this whole nasty war business?

The sneak attack Milita in Sibeiria has been delt with harshly along with the friends they had shipping in supply for the vandalism project.

Some more airfield bombardment practice against the Japs with a bit more success this season. We are getting better.

Turn sent to WA who are doing an excellent job of aggressing the foes who put them in a tough position. Now if they would only sign the lend lease agreement.

Summer 1943:

Germany:

An attemtp to invade our friends in Egypt is repulsed with almost no casualties. The door to the Med is still closed for the moment. North Africa is a stand off for the moment but without mastering the seas it's a question of time before our troops would be outnumbered.

As our former friend Uncle Joe noticed the Allies are devious and after all they did start this whole business by declaring war to Germany while we were just claiming what's rightfully ours. Maybe we could agree on some ceasefire on the Eastern Front and redefine the map of Europe together?
