Russia summer 42

The Germans move on the northern territories but in small enough numbers I think I'll be able to keep the lend lease route open. Smolensk gets rolled again with heavy losses against few enemy damages. I'm noticing the Germans are slowly pulling away a few fighters and tac air to redeploy against the wallies but it still isn't really opening up any opportunities for the Russians.

Russian units retake the north and reinforce kursk as the Germans have shifted the bulk of their forces into Army Group Center. Russian tanks go 9/9 now and are up against the dreaded panthers that are 10/8 at this point.

Wallies summer 42

U.S. entry into the war sees the States cry "away, all boats" and port rebases are made enmasse as the Japanese have concentrated on the Asian mainland and not moved on the DEI. One CV stays in the N/ Atlantic but the other 5 spread out into the Pacific.

Not shown here, 2 of the 4 CV's from the SW US ports rebase all the way to N. Austalia this turn and are followed by an armor unit and one inf. The two fighters are moved into pearl to cover the 6 BB's and 2 DD's in port there now.

* I took this pic before I undid the cag moves into pearl after I discovered the Japanese CV's so they aren't really there, they have moved south instead to keep a safe distance from the Japanese CAG that are still superior in air to air combat. I also screwd up by not spotting from teh Gilbert Islands first which is why the one CAG is there, ( i moved a couple BB's and DD's into the Gilberts to cover my mistake with the port rebase.)

Kursk is retaken but due to a lack of comunication 30 supply failed to disembark in Murmansk last turn only to then find its way to the icey water when German U-boats attacked wallied transports... I like to wait till the last to move it in just incase i need to pull any back. stupid forgetful brain [;)]

Slowly the Russians catch up to the German technolgy lead and inf now has a 7 attack rating. unfortunatly the German inf is 8 attack and 7 evasion at this point so a ways to go yet.

a side note: new port director has been assigned to murmansk [;)]

China fall 42

Japan surprises us and when we thought they were on their way to India they turned right and Chungking is now Japanese controlled. [X(]

Wallies fall 42

Even putting the Russians to task to date the Germans are continually upping the ante with more forces in the west. And I cringe seeing empty sub pens.

Wallies are perfecting their art, the 3 single subs are destroyed and in furious activity off Greenland 3 months of patrols saw 6 DD's damage two more. 3 subs still lurking, when will they run out !!

Wallies positions off Australia, the Japanese CAG are hiding up north and I haven't been able to spot them this turn. With Japans heavy investment in China she has been unable to pressure very many of our Pacific holdings. Moving the Heavy fleets over from Africa and fighters and ground units from India looks like a good move that might end up shortening the pacific war.

With the Carolines still heavily defended by enemy air, US patrols return to port after engaging the small fleet defending it. A good chunk of the Japanese surface ships still hold in the Marianas aswell, I just wish I knew where those darn Carriers are!

strat map at the end of 42.

notice the high water mark ( bold number bottom right ) the Axis have reached 60 so a one over shift in the victory conditions will be applied. That means a minor victory would end as a draw or a draw into an Axis victory.

Russia winter 43

Things are slowly looking up on the Russian front. With inf attack now equal to German infantry evasion and armor on a more equal footing attack results are getting more balanced.

With Kursk controlled again, tac air pounds German forward air fields and removes several German tac air wings. The end of winter 43 and the Russian front is still too close to Moscow for our liking.

China winter 43

The fall of Chungking is bad news. Japanese forces shift east but there is little the Chinese can do about it.

Wallies winter 43

The Italians get brave and send shipping out in the Atlantic, they are quickly sunk and American forces move in to stop anymore incursions.

The subs numbers are now down to 3 and all are hiding this turn so Wallied air focuses on fighters in France then and bombs the crap out of Spanish rail. Spain will need to be dealt with to get back in the med.

Japanese CV's have pulled back to the Sea of Japan and parts of the Phillipines fall this turn. Minor attacks on Japanese transports reduce their numbers to 10 but with the stockpile the Japanese have in the Carolines I'll have to deal with the air there rather than try and bypass it.

We move a small floatila into midway and several ground units into the DEI on the defense.

unit totals to date.

Notice the wallies have gone into full gear at x3 and more men show up at the recruiting stations daily.

Looking at the Japanese totals I can see why they ignored the Wallies, If they can get those troops out of China in time the home islands will be a nightmare to capture.
