I thought I might do an AAR at some point. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for an easy-to-use (and hopefully free) screenshot utility that works well with fullscreen mode?

Thanks, I have tried one or two since I posted but haven't found one I like yet. The easiest utility let me take multiple shots in fullscreen mode but couldn't convert them to jpg or gif format. The normal printscreen function doesn't seem to be work correctly on my computer but maybe I am doing something stupid. In any case, a utility would be nice that can save multiple shots at a sitting. Also - WAW tended to crash when you tried to minimize it in fullscreen mode, and I haven't wanted to experiment with this one.

I'm afraid that this is still true, despite intense efforts by the developers. I recommend Windowed mode.

I use GIMP (see here) for screenshots. This is a free Gnu tool, pretty much equivalent to Photoshop. As such, it is not actually a "simple" tool, it is a pretty high quality Image Manipulation Program (add the Gnu and you get GIMP ...).

But it is free, and pretty easy for capturing screen shots.

It's also good for modifying the map image files for WAW if you make map mods. That was the original reason I got it.

screenshot assistant is amazing - you run it when you need it so it never runs in the background and take up memory when you don't need it, and when you press printscrn it creates a jpg (or gif) on your desktop so you can take as many pics as you want and go through them later. and it's free!
