Thanks,
The link got a bit hidden with the migration to the new forum system but is still there (in the first post of the thread). When the mouse pointer changes into a hand you get to the link I have written for your convenience below.

My new version is pretty much done. However, I've been holding off for a while to playtest the solo scenario's I have. Both are hard to win as I want them to be a challenge for veteran layers, but it's easier to win the Arsenal of Democracy scenario over the Axis Blitz one since the Western Allies AI plays to timid. That scenario has been a challenge to tweak. I just crush the US in the pacific because I can exploit the AI's poor CV management. I've tried many things. More CV's for the US. Better carrier air tech etc. In the end, without going overboard on US advantages, the US just plays to timid. It's an AI issue. And I know that resources aren't going to be put into AI development anymore. I've been trying to tackle it another way, but so far, the US just can't handle my play of the Japanese. Perhaps others will think it's strong enough. I think it's time I wrap this up and just put out this version. I can always work on the solo scenarios for a future update. Right now, the man vs man main scenario is ready.

When released you will have to use the old 1.040 patch to play Deluxe. I never found anything wrong with using email to pass turns anyway. I prefer it. It allows my opponent and I to have a dialog. And I still have old email games archived after all these years. It's nice to go back and see the old discussions I had with the old regulars that used to be here.

The old Installer of .40 you may have to put up somewhere too maybe as Matrix removed in from the Download Page.

I and a friend are giving a go to the Deluxe we found online; there are many improvements and we both like map changes.
Suppression business works better in Deluxe too, than the randomness of the baseline game.

But to me it seems the Axis is far too weak now. US war borderline to enter war at their Fall'41 with 37 as war entry as well and the larger Russia map with a 'Rough' Leningrad taxes German logistics further - for no real Axis compensation in terms of gameplay balance.
My opponent too is faring better - he's not admittedly Axis is stronger, but he feels in a much better Allied position than he was in Global Glory vanilla stock. And that with the bug that nuked Axis minor power supplies! So figure out...

In general I am after PvP more so than PvE. The AI tends to be limited, follow schemes, etcetera.

Ok I'll put up the 1.040 patch along with Deluxe 1.06 soon. Any good recommendations of a free stable site to put it? Mediafire may not be a good long time solution. I don't have faith it will be around a good long time.

BTW just fixed the download link in the very first post. The new forum format messed it up.

Well, it should be any day now. Maybe a week or two. After I finish up work on another board game, I'll devote my free time to updating the PDF with all the changes I made since last big release.

By the way, is it still planned to adapt your Deluxe version to the new 1.059 version?

Other than that, your map is superb.

I just did some work on it last weekend. There are some small map changes I'm trying out. I've mostly been playing the Axis Blitz and Arsenal of Democracy scenarios to make them decent enough to give a veteran of AWD a challenge. It's been in this "finished" state for like a year. I could have just released it then as the PBEM game hasn't changed much. It was the solo game I've been trying to improve. I've also been holding off because I wanted to polish up the documentation. But damn I never have the energy to tackle that. Nor am I very good at that sort of thing to be honest. The documentation will never be as good as Brain's for Global Glory. I should just clean up the mess of notes I made and through something quick together so you guys can begin to enjoy the new version.

Maybe someone with office skills, so to speak, can volunteer to clean up the documentation so it doesn't look like a pile of trash.

Ok I'm working on it again right now. Fixing up the mess of the list of changes I made etc. Will setup a Dropbox account and get this version out this weekend. Looking back, I can't believe it's been 3 years since I started work on 1.06.

I finally got my ass in gear and got this done. 1.06 is now downloadable at the link in first post. It should work for both the 1.059 patch and the old 1.040 patch which used old school PBEM to send files. Personally, that's actually the way I'd rather play with others. I liked having discussions via email with my opponents.

Inside the zip folder there is a folder that has some map pics there. See them for reference to what I mentioned in the 1.06 readme.

At max zoom the areas on the right side appear all black.

Is this happening to anyone else?

When you scroll they disappear but the next areas appear black.

That lack of loading land files happens to me too. It's probably an artifact of this game being designed back in the day when 256MB on a video card was good, therefore it was never designed to load so much textures at once. I have 8GB on my video card now and the game performs no better than if I used a 15 year old card.

I wonder if this is something that can be easily tweaked in the engine?
