Hot Fix Request

Post by VegasOZ »

Please provide a "switch" Hot Fix to allow the player to TURN OFF the spinning Japanese Flag during the enemy turn execution. I find it very distracting and irritating.

Sorry, but it is bothersome.

This hasn't been tested much yet, but here is a hotfix:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/lc8g1fvafc6ga ... a.zip?dl=0

The files in this zip should be extracted to the game's root folder. In case of a Steam install, that generally is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Order of Battle Pacific\"
For Slitherine version I think it is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\Order of Battle Pacific\"?

Before you do this I suggest you make a copy of the existing "...\Order of Battle - Pacific_Data\Managed" folder. If anything goes wrong with this hotfix, just delete the Managed folder and replace it with that copy and the changes should be undone.

If the hotfix is succesfully applied your game version should read 1.6.0 at the bottom of the main menu, instead of 1.5.8. An option to disable the spinning will then be available in the options menu, under the Audio & Video tab.

My game is now 1.6.0 and the option is there and enabled. The animation "spin" has stopped.
Thanks for the quick fix and awesome DEV support.

Much better without the Hypnotic Spinner... LOL

THIS GAME IS STONE COLD FUN...

Experience points. My P40 shoots down FIVE enemy plane units in the Pearl Harbor scenario. FIVE. Yet no stars of experience. In fact, the experience bar shows something like a paltry 375/10,000 points. I have to rack up 10,000 points for a star of experience? Really? What, does my P40 have to strap on "Little Boy" and drop it on Hiroshima to get any appreciable amount of experience?

This is a good game, but some "Job One" stuff obviously slipped past the beta testers. Makes me wonder what they were doing. Maybe "experience" needs some deeper explanation. Maybe 2,000/10,000 gets a star, but if it does, that's still pretty extreme--my P40 would have to take out Nagumo's entire task force to earn it.

I was kind of wondering about this myself. I had not seen any experience stars in the first couple missions myself.

I think all (new) units start with zero experience in the scenarios.
I was planning to mention this in the beta-testing, but forgot [&:]
And I agree, later scenarios should bump up the unit experiences.

Hm I ran a quick test in the scenario editor putting a fighter VS a bomber and it does look like experience gain is very low at the moment. Will look into it further to see if it really is a bug. At some point it used to be too easy to get almost full elite units in a single scenario, but maybe it was pushed too far to the other side.

Might be one for the patch list.

Thank you. Currently it kind of makes the whole experience game mechanic non existent.
