scenarios?

Post by gregb41352 »

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but I was expecting scenarios like Guadalcanal, Okinawa, etc.
Yet under the scenarios tab, it seems they're all basically training scenarios.
Any information on the battle scenarios?

These battles only become available in the scenario panel after you have completed them once as part of the campaigns. This is to prevent "spoiling the surprises".

If you insist I can provide you file that unlocks them all though.

Extract this file to your <documents>\My Games\Order of Battle - Pacific\Settings folder:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ybmjbj9hpa8l ... d.zip?dl=0

All campaign scenarios will then be available in the singleplayer scenarios menu.

Thanks. I'm studying the Battle of Okinawa now and that's the
reason I wanted to unlock that battle.

I downloaded the "unlock" file.

But, being an Honorable Gamer of course I WILL NOT use it.

I will just go to the folder and look at the file once in awhile. Just stare and imagine what it would be like to have all the scenarios unlocked.

But, I'm in it for the Drama and I believe that the DEVS have some good dramatic moments planned into the Campaign and if you jump ahead you will spoil the fun.

I might even UNZIP the file, but that's it... nothing more... Not me, I'm not a wuss...

Hi Lukas,

Unless I missed a step, .. this file only seems to unlock the Japanese Campaign. [&:]

I didn't try all the Scenarios, .. but the 2 or 3 I did try, .. I was playing as Japan.

Also, .. when I tried to play the Midway Scenario (as Japan), .. after the deployment phase, .. the Scenario Ends,
with a Defeat for the Japanese. [&:]

Without dishing out any real spoilers, would anybody please list the game's scenarios? Is it the same-old, same-old parade of well-covered engagements, or does the game also journey down other more "obscure" pathways?

Aleutians? New Georgia? Bougainville? Peleliu? Papua/New Guinea? Campaigns in the DEI? Luzon? Malaysia? Burma? China? etc., etc.

If not, might we expect to see player-made scenarios at least? How easy would they be to make? (Or the inevitable DLC perhaps?)

But I don't own the game yet. I ask, because my purchasing the game depends very much on the answer.

Thanks. The list -- it's a good start.

Beer & pretzel games are not really my thing. I think that War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition is the finest war game ever made. I love it! But I simply don't have time now to play such a monster. Beer & pretzels, however, I have time for. Moving closer to purchasing this game.

I hope that we'll maybe see a DLC Grand Campaign series like Panzer Corps.

Berto, if you were able to read the manual, I think you'd consider it right away. The attention to detail and polish of the UI is truly impressive and seems a labor of love. Although I have just started an MP game designed by Erik N., it's sort of like AE greatly simplified and dropped down to tactical, without the micro of HPS's interface.

Of course, it's all shiny and new, but so far, very good. The maps give it the immersion factor (for me) and a lot of the grog details are clearly presented. There are also some twists that differentiate it from PzCorps and up the complexity a bit. The graphics and elegance of the interface also make it fun to play. In comparison, the new ACW game's UI and unit graphics tend to hurt my eyes, although the details are great. Again, just first impressions...

PS - Manual available via Steam, pre-purchase, but that feature doesn't always work for me.

Update - the Betia custom MP scenario my opponent lost on the first turn. So much for my gushing about the UI :)
