Hotfix Available

Post by Lukas »

Because building a patch, installer and uploading it to all the required places takes time we won't be able to complete the official first patch until next week. In the meantime we've decided to release another hotfix:

Download here

Be aware however that we haven't had much time testing this, so if you install it now consider yourself a hotfix beta-tester [;)] If there are any issues with it report them on the forums so we can be sure to address them in next week's official patch.

The changes list of this hotfix:

[*]Experience formula tweaked: Experience gain is much quicker now (perhaps too quick?)
[*]Coral Sea (Japan) and Midway (USA) victory requirements fixed: You now get a victory on the final turn if you managed to force the enemy to retreat.
[*]Dutch Overvalswagen fixed: This used to cause significant framerate drops on the Java map
[*]Dutch Landstorm and Sherman Jumbo stats fixed (more unit tweaks will follow in patch)
[*]Modding support: The game will open with a mod launcher if there are any mods installed.
[*]AI freeze fixes
[*]Switch between torpedo & bombs issue fixed

Note: The announced "hex selection" and "city names" are not yet part of this hotfix.

Thanks for the hotfix.

Meanwhile I own a few games by Matrix/Slitherine.
The support provided by the developers, even if the games are a bit dated, exemplary!
I hope Aristocrats keeps this tradition alive.

Didn't fix the Midway problem, at least for me; loaded up my turn 35 save, ran the Japanese turn, and it still said I lost, even though I sank two of the IJN CVs, much of the invasion fleet, and drove the invaders back across the sea. Guess I'll wait for the real patch and put this on the shelf for a bit. No way I'm playing that scenario again with even the chance of it screwing up again.

EDIT: Can't upload the save because that file type isn't supported, nor for some reason are .zips.

The hotfix won't fix ongoing scenarios. Basically the savegame IS the scenario so it will only change if you restart it completely. You can just use the "#igotnukes" cheat at the end of the last turn though if you have an ongoing scenario, it essentially does the same as this fix.

I just installed this patch to my Steam folder, but it does not change the version number. It still says 1.6.0. Is this correct?

Also - I wasn't thinking about my multiplayer game. Will this affect my ability to continue my multiplayer game? If so, I will reinstall my Steam version to the base version.

Nobody knows? I installed the patch, but it still shows version 1.6.0

Is this correct, or did the patch not install correctly?

I believe it installs using the same version number. I have done the hotfix and can now see the changes in gameplay, e.g. torpedo/bomb selection with the SB2C, yet version number remains at 1.6.0.
