How will they handle air units?

Post by warishere »

Its been a while since I've played PG and I suppose that goes the same for everyone. haha...

However, if I remember correctly, didn't air units have to be directly over an enemy unit to attack it? I like how they handle air units in C-EAW. In EAW, air units can attack from a distance which makes them mainly support units. How will it be different in PC?

Technically no, since you can not stack air units this would make attacking air units impossible.

I must be thinking of PG3D. It seems like you had to move an air unit directly over an enemy unit to attack it.

Not that I remember.  Maybe you are confused with that one promo that let the planes HIDE above the clouds.

Ok, I found it on youtube. here it is... it's PG3DA! At about 1:05 a plane flies over a tank and attacks it.

I thought I was imagining things for a minute there.... [:D]

I wonder if this how they're going to handle air attacks in PC?

Attacking ground units, you can stack, but air can't stack against air units.

I wonder... if this rule could be broken a bit in the remake. Perhaps allow fighter escourts to stack with bombers?

Just move your fighters first and that would be your escort.

Its kind of like this in Strategic Command 2. Not sure if you've played it, I personally love the game but in SC, you don't exactly stack units, however fighters will automatically give support to both strategic and tactical bombers and air units can attack from a distance, same with artillery and AA, AT units. Its a really nice attack and defend system in that game. It gives the game a very nice tactical feel for a grand strategy game. But unfortunately you can't stack units in SC, although, the HQ units kind of simulate stacking since they give all the units under their control attack and defend bonuses.
