Core slot availability

Fans of the old Panzer General series rejoice for the release of Panzer Corps. Following in the footsteps of the popular SSI masterpiece and sharing with the General series the same level of engagement and strategic depth, Panzer Corps will keep an unmistakable "PG feeling" whilst improving and refining the gameplay and balance. Panzer Corps will feature 26 scenarios on 21 unique maps, covering most major battles of the European Theatre of World War II and including a few hypothetical 'what if' scenarios based on your actions. Now expanded with a full-war mega-campaign and the Afrika Corps and Allied Corps releases!

Core slot availability

Post by dorjun driver »

Whilst campaigning and I lose a core unit, why isn't a new slot available immediately? Not a bitch, just a question.

I loved the original PG. It was a great game. No disrespect to those developers, but this iteration is one great farking game!

When you lose a core unit, purchase slot should be available to you right away. In some scenarios where units are predeployed, their number exceeds the number of slots (e. g. Allies in Germany), in this case the loss cannot be filled with a new unit, you need to fight with what you have. But in most scens this should not happen.

In the 1939-1945 campaign, in the initial scenario (four additional core units available), I've beefed up both my air and artillery arms, bringing my available core slots to nil.  After losing a core Panzer, I have no ability to purchase any unit.  Mousing over the "Buy" button shows 0 core slots available.  Which is confirmed by actually going to the "Buy" subroutine. Zero slots available.  WAD?

I did a quick test and could not repro this. I started 1939 campaign, bought 2 planes and two arty units, then disbanded a tank and could buy one more unit.

Maybe the tank you lost was auxiliary, after all? There is one aux tank in Poland.

If you are sure the tank was core, send me your saved game please. I'll check.

Damn it. You have a point. I don't recall whether or not it was core unit. I'll sacrifice a known core unit and get back to you.  Although I'm so good at this game (other than the initial boo boo), it may take a while for the pesky commies to do some damage.  I'll try my worst!

<edit> Yup. Pilot error, as per usual. The initial Panzer loss was not a core unit. You know, aircraft fuel starvation is a great way to open up slots. In a pinch. You heard it here first.

Do you guys ever sleep? And I thought the WitP:AE folk were the insomniacs to beat all insomniacs. Silly me.
