Maus...

Fans of the old Panzer General series rejoice for the release of Panzer Corps. Following in the footsteps of the popular SSI masterpiece and sharing with the General series the same level of engagement and strategic depth, Panzer Corps will keep an unmistakable "PG feeling" whilst improving and refining the gameplay and balance. Panzer Corps will feature 26 scenarios on 21 unique maps, covering most major battles of the European Theatre of World War II and including a few hypothetical 'what if' scenarios based on your actions. Now expanded with a full-war mega-campaign and the Afrika Corps and Allied Corps releases!

Maus...

Post by terje439 »

Does anyone use this (if you have gotten to that stage yet that is ;) ).
Although it is great at landings and for the innitial assault, I feel that in the long run I am losing those Panzer units I upgrade to the Maus due to its speed. Same with the KT tbh. So in the end I go with the Panther to keep mobility. Any others have different views?

Well, you were not allowed to purchase the Maus in campaigns in earlier beta versions, so I can't say I got around to buying them. Though I quite liked the one I got as an Aux unit.

I've been doing 100% on-line games so I sadly haven't had time to getting around to the campaigns in the official release.

Bought the game yesterday and ended up playing through the entire campaign. When I got to invade USA the Maus was available. Sadly the movement of 3 at maps with alot of movement required rendered them somewhat useless :(

I think that is one of the reasons why they were supposed to be useless in real life:-)

How did it get across the Atlantic anyways [&:] [X(]

Oh wait, it used two U-boat engines, maybe they turned it into a "sub" so it could drive all the way to the US.

It's only usable to break the initial enemy defences. Once that's done, and it's time to exploit, just park them.

I agree Terminus, but the question then becomes;
is it worth it? You sacrifice a core unit for the first 3-4 turns at the max.
Guess I'll keep mass producing panthers instead :)

Frankly, if the Maus is realistically programmed, it would be almost useless on the offense, and only useful as a "Movable Pillbox" on the Defense.
Gamers love the Maus, but if fact it was a Military Turkey if ever there was one. Unless they took a "Alternative Reality" approach to the Maus, I would not buy it unless I was on the defense, and good defensive terrian was scarce.

No Maus yet.

I'd say it's not worth it. The Maus does nothing that a Tiger II can't do.

That was the opinion of just about every experienced Armor commander in the German Army, who almost unaimously thought the Maus was a waste of money, time and resources at a time when all were getting scare.
But Der Fuehrur had an "bigger is better" mentality, and he was calling the shots.
Hell even the T-35, the badly failed Russian "Land Battleship"was more practible then the Maus.

Perhaps everyone is afraid to buy a Maus because of the Hell Cat.
