To Steam or not to Steam

Forum dedicated to the Scourge of War Game set during the Napoleonic Wars. Scourge of War: Waterloo follows in the footsteps of its American Civil War predecessors and takes the action to one of the most famous battles in history. buy from here, then you also get a steam key, so at a later date if you wish to use steam you can, buy on steam, you can't play other than on steam, unless you go in offline mode, with steam still running mind you :)

For me the steam version is much much cheaper. Buying this on Steam costs NZ$ 53.99, buying directly from Matrix costs NZ$ 73.85. That is a whopping difference of NZ$ 19.86.

I have only one Steam game Arma 3. If I turn off my modem before I start the game I can play offline

you don't need to turn anything off, just alter the game settings if you wish

We have one player in our group who is struggling with his steam copy vs our Matrix copies. In MP games he sometimes gets stuck at "loading chain of command". Its a real problem. I'd go with the Matrix copy - as was posted above you get a steam key as well if you really want one.

I bought it from here, and used the Steam key when it came out.

Same thing with DW: Universe and TEAW.

+1

If you decide to buy check both sites as sometimes prices vary between them.
