Waterloo: The Hunters scenario update

Post by PongoDeMer »

I am now running version 1.03 of the game. However, the scenario remains unwinnable from the Allied side.

I have also started running the Papelotte scenario. When the battle is over, I get a runtime error when I click on the 'Statistics' button. When I click on that, the game closes completely leaving me on my desktop.

Does anyone have the solutions?

Instability causing crashes can be caused by installing the update patches wrong. Please check this thread and make sure you have installed the patches correctly, especially in the right order of installation.

If you see an issue with your installation procedure, uninstall and then reinstall according to the thread. Good luck! Apologies for this inconvenience, the patch install procedures can be confusing.

Reb, thanks for replying.

I am running the Collectors Edition. If I am reading your instructions correctly, I am meant to download and install the base Waterloo game v 1.00 first, install the Collectors Edition v 1.02 over that and then patch it to v 1.03 The trouble is that I can't download and install the base game without buying it. As I have already paid good money for the Collectors Edition, I really don't want to fork out a further £43 for the base game unless I really have to!

Is there any way round this, or do I have to buy the base game in order to get the Collectors Edition to work properly?

Thanks in advance,

P de M.

The base game is included with the Collectors Edition. Once you uninstall it, reinstall, then install the patches in the order you mentioned.

Okay, but where do I access the base game installer that I'm supposed to already have? https://www.matrixgames.com/game/scourg ... r-waterloo takes me to the base game page, but the (PC) installer v 1.00 link is in black print and doesn't work. Neither does the following link which is also given in the fix instructions.

https://www.matrixgames.com/member/down ... er%20v1.00

I have also checked the Scourge of War Waterloo downloads on My Page, but Base Game v 1.00 isn't included.

It may help you to know that I also have the base game on Steam, however, it has never worked since the Scourge of War team started bringing out patches. I have since got a Collectors Edition Steam Key, but there seems to be a conflict with the base version, because when I load it, only the base version shows up in my library.

You've gotta have the 1.00 version patch installed before versions 1.02 and 1.03, that's the reason your game is with issues now. If Matrix is affiliated with Steam I'm confident that they can give you access to all three patches with proof of purchase, otherwise you'll have to go through Steam, of which I know little about how it works and provides support.

If no one chimes in on this thread to help you with the Steam version I suggest you open a new thread specifically for that purpose. I do know that there are folks on this forum using the Steam version of Waterloo, however, I don't recall any discussions about patch availability or other issues, so I'm presently unable to provide a pertinent link to help you out.

Good Luck with your Steam queries...

Thanks for all your help Reb.

I have now opened a ticket with Matrix. I will keep you posted with regard to all new developments. If there is no joy, I will do the same with Steam.

Hi, as far as I know, Steam should automatically update the game to the last patch.

Could you check your game version opening the Multiplayer menu?

I drew a blank with Steam.

You tell me that the Collector's Edition includes v 1.00 of the game. It isn't in My Page of either the Matrix or Slitherine forums. I also can't find it in the installed game files on my PC or in my documents folder. Could you please tell me exactly where it is or where it can be accessed from?

For the record, Gettysburg 150th Anniversary version works perfectly!!
