Happiness penalties due to casualties

Is it possible to see the penalties to happiness / loyalty that are applied to a zone due to casualties? I've tried hovering over the happiness and loyalty values in the zone but I've never seen any reference to casualties.

I suppose it's possible that I just hadn't taken enough casualties to exceed my tolerance, although that seems unlikely, because I had been lost a couple of thousand infantry over 10 turns or so.

Also, in this particular game, practically all of my recruits came from a single zone (my capital). Does this mean that any penalties would only apply there, or are they spread out across the entire regime?

There is a short/long term casualty limit under the happiness tab that alludes to "negative consequences". I've yet to see any consequence of them.
