Any reason to get leaders relationship above 75?

Post by TruJared »

From what I gathered in the manual, leaders get a bonus to their rolls at 75 and 100 relationship scores. They also get a penalty to rolls at 50 and lower. Is their any other benefit or reason to push a leaders relationship past 75?

The percentile Relationship bonus on effects is more floating, capping out only ~95%.
Plus, if you got 100 but only need 75, that gives you 25 reserve.

I believe that a leaders loyalty is influenced by their relationship with you. If you hover over the relationship and the loyalty stat in the leader info display the tooltip will explain that.

The last thing you want is a leader with good semi decent relationship but low loyalty. It really hurts when say for example a brigade commander decides to leave you due to loyalty issues and then takes the troops under his command with him.

For that reason I am constantly watching relationship and checking how loyalty is being affected.
Forgive me my old friend...but I must use all my experience, to get home.

The impact from decisions they dislike can be enormous - I have some very dedicated fascists in my government who hate that I keep cultivating democratic socialism and I routinely see -20 or -30 from them on some decisions.

On the other hand, if they get too troublesome I generally have them brutally shot, so it's not a huge problem

Nonsense, my Democratic People's Republic welcomes a variety of views and positions within government and only executes those who are secretly traitors to the revolution.

It's just that secret traitors to the revolution tend to identify themselves by allowing relations to drop below 95 at any time.

I believe loyalty with a leader drifts to a natural relations and current relations. You can see it in the mng tab in the peoples section buy playing around with some of the stuff it there. It can give you an amazing overview of info you want to know about all your leaders. I much prefer it to the section in Rep.

They get a bonus to their rolls at 51 or higher. All the way up to 100. If there is an error in the manual please pass me the page number.

Thanks Vic. My memory of the manual was also a bit off (I said 50, but should have said 25) and perhaps I misunderstood the context. But what I'm referring to is specifically located on page 123. It states:

"...Above you can see how especially in your bureaucracy a good Relation Score gives a big bonus. But you can also see that Skills provide bonuses.Getting the best out of your Leaders Skill Rolls means keeping their Relation Score high. A Leader with Relation Score 25 will suffer -10 on his Skill Rolls while a Leader with Relation 75 will get +10 on his Skill Rolls and Relation Score 100 will even give +20."

I see what you mean.

When I read that in the manual, I understood it as "you get a modifier that goes from from -20 at 0 to 0 at 50 to 20 at 100, i.e. 0.4*(relations-50)", but it can be read the way you did it.

Perhaps it would be better formulated something like this: "Getting the best out of your Leaders' Skill Rolls means keeping their Relation Score high. They receive a base modifier of -20 to the Skill Rolls at 0 Relation Score, and every point of Relation Score grants a 0.4 increase to this modifier. Thus the modifier becomes -10 at Relation Score 25, +0 at Relation Score 50, +10 at Relation Score 75, and it reaches a maximum of +20 at Relation Score 100."
