[1.04b2] Hire Juniors Strategem Not Actually Hiring Juniors
I'm on turn 174 of my current game and I'm noticing that the hire juniors strategem isn't hiring juniors. I have attached the history of a "junior" I hired this turn. She is 45 years old. I think what's going on is that all leaders seem to be starting careers at turn 0 regardless of what hire stratagem is played.

30 turns are 5 earth years. So at 45, the character would be a total for 270 turns old (of course birth can lie before turn 0).

I get that, it's just that as someone who likes long games, I'm worried that if my game goes long enough, then all my junior hires will be in their 50s-60s and that really doesn't make sense to me.

It doesn't make sense that people get old?
RE: [1.04b2] Hire Juniors Strategem Not Actually Hiring Juniors
You have to put the age into context to their life expectancy. Wich is based on Strenght. And wich is not shown on the Picture. Refer to 5.8.6.2. in the handbook:
"Old Age rules kick in at 50 + (Unmodified Strength / 2) years of age.
Once this age is reached the first 10 years the Leader has a 30% chance every birthday to lose 1 war and 1 strength stat point.
The second 10 years after the effects have kicked in every birthday the Leader has a 30% chance to lose 1 charisma point and a 60% chance to lose 1 war and 1 strength point.
If more than 20 years above the kick-in point the Leader has every birthday a 30% chance to lose 1 willpower point, 60% chance to lose a charisma point and a 100% chance to lose 1 war and 1 strength point."
"Above 65 years of age the Leader will have (100-Ambition)/5 % chance to retire every birthday if his/her strength is below 20. And this increases to (100-Ambition)/2% chance if strength < 10. If strength reaches 0 the Leader always retires."
Lowballing the strenght at 20:
So you will get a solid 20 Years (120 Turns) before you need to worry about that leader Retiring.
And with a 60 years age limit, 15 years (90 Turns) until stats start to decay.

RE: [1.04b2] Hire Juniors Strategem Not Actually Hiring Juniors
I think I'm being misunderstood here. Early in the game junior strategems are generating leaders around ages 19-30 which is what I expect based from the description of the card. However the longer my game runs the card recruits leaders in their mid 40s to mid 50s. I added that screenshot based on my assumption of what I think is happening which is instead of creating a leader who starts service at turn 90 or turn 114, all of my leaders start service at turn 0 which means that their default age starts much later I'm honestly not sure if this is intended or not but overall it just seems weird that none of the leaders I recruit are starting their career at later turns and I want to know if this is WAD.

Out of pure interest do you happen to have recruit senior cards? If you do how old people you get from there?

You are right and I got that from your first post. Just makes sense that juniors are juniors :p

The senior leaders I recruited were 86 and 90 years old.

Compared to that, 45 years are Juniors.ORIGINAL: Dreamsicle

There still may be a unwanted connection to the games turn, but it seems a lot less severe - if it is even there. It is good that you reported it, but it may just be the full weight of true Randomness.

You're reading the words, but missing the implication... the bigger issue.
If he plays to 250 turns, the spawned leaders will all immediately die of old age or retire.
Everyone appears to be born at turn 0. That's the OP. Perhaps true or not.
If so, that is a bug.

1. This is not how aging and retiring works. Seriously, I posted that one above. No excuse to make stuff like that up.ORIGINAL: Malevolence

2. That is a theory, based on the asumption that the age keeps creeping up.
It is possible that happens. Or it is just that decent randomness results in the usual perceived pattern.

Read the age range in the beta fix thread.
Favoritism is alive and well here.
RE: [1.04b2] Hire Juniors Strategem Not Actually Hiring Juniors
Humm not there could have sworn when I checked before there was an age range maybe in game I think you can go as low as 13? Remember in early days like medieval or wild west children as young as 12 or 13 were treated as adults at times.

Yes, I posted that report here, because it's possible the "fix" created unintended adolescent leaders.
It's up to the developers to decide if this is working as intended.

If you're selling a game in the EU be very careful about what children are doing or is being done to them explicitly.
In the United States, anything implying our taboos (nudity and sex) and children will also draw fire. Ever watch the original Blue Lagoon?
