Simplified math of combat

Post by Xywa »

How the math works in the game?

So manual says:
"The attacker compares his attack score to the hit point score of the defending Subunit."
and
Determine if hit scored
Basically, it is very simple. The attack points for the attacker and the hitpoints for the defender are calculated.

The attack score is based on either Soft Attack or Soft Defence.

The hitpoints score is based on the Hitpoints (can be different depending on whether the attacker is an infantry type or not)

So we got (attacker) attack score VS. (deffender) hit-point. What about soft-defence?

Got 2 units, Riffle Milita is attacking Grunts:
Riffle Milita: Hitpoints 107 Soft attack | defence 20 | 36 (two tousand eight hundred units)
Grunts: Hitpoints 96 Soft attack | defence 21 | 42 (eight hundred units)

Lets do some simplified math (without bonuses). Could you tell me step by step, what will be next?
2800 units = 28 subunits x 22 attack = 616
Vs
800 units = 8 subunits x 96 hit-points = 768

616 Vs. 768 (I am right?)

When is self-defence used?

It's rolled on the individual subunit level during combat not pooled together. Hitpoints is the same on attack/defense but whether you use your (soft or hard) attack or defense scores is dependent on whether you are the attacker on the strategic map.

So, "Defense" is really your attack when you're on defense, and "Attack" is really your attack when you're on offense? And the target type determines which of the two measures you use?

Yes.

Read the detailed combat report to see all the numbers in play.

I like to call them Strategic Offense and Strategic Defense.

The Combat Offense will be one of the Strategic Values.
The Combat defense will be the HP.
