Hi All,

Over the past year, some very interesting and even exotic DLCs have enriched these two important chapters of the Strategic Command series: American Civil War and World War I, giving a good place to the era before 1914-1918. Let's say the "Second 19th century", to simplify...

Hubert CATER and the developers of this magnificent saga, to which by the way I have been faithful since the first version (Strategic Command: European Theater, 2002) would they form the (secret) project of one day adapting their solid game engine to the wars of the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Empire (1792-1815) as well as those of the North and South American Independences (the "First 19th century")?

Or even, why not, the Seven Years' War, this first conflict on a global scale having taken place in the heart of the 18th century?

Have a wonderful Christmas holiday!
All my Best Wishes for 2024.

I agree with this. Something along the lines of World War III would be nice, from a gaming aspect.

A Napoleon version would be awesome. The Napoleonic Wars were very much strategic (battle between England and France) and there would be many different strategies to try.

Two problems however:
1. In the Napoleonic era, battles were often decided in a small location in a few days or less, while Strategic Command is more made for battles lasting months (like in the World Wars).

As a fix, the map should be quite a bit larger, and units much higher attack values (vs defense) so you're more likely to wipe out a unit, preventing deadlocked fronts. This will force players to only go to battle/war if they think they have an army ready to face any onslaught.

2. Diplomacy would be really weird. Like in 1809, the Russians were technically allied with the French and invaded Austria. But obviously before that, and after, Russia was at war with the French. And you have multiple coalition wars that in the current model would be a hard to simulate.

There's a community scenario for WiE that covers a 1946 war between the USSR and the Western Allies, but (no criticism of the makers who were obviously aiming to produce something fun and not that serious) I feel it to be a bit unrealistic and over-the-top.

Frankly I'd like to see a sequel series. I like the additional scenarios that have come out but it's really time for the next edition to address some of the issues with the present game-engine.

A game about the Spanish Civil War would be great. The perfect theme for a big campaign and for various scenarios.
