German-AH ships/subs to Turkish ports?

Post by Tanaka »

Is this possible? Can the AH-German ships seek refuge in Turkish ports if they leave the Adriatic or are these ships/subs doomed to be stuck out in peril? A curious stupid question because I have always been afraid to try it and lose them!

I know in the WAW game German ships cannot use Japanese ports so I am wondering if this is the same type situation or not?

They can use the Turkish ports to resupply and reinforce. I've done this successfully in several MP games.

On a sidenote:

The whole "majors not cooperating" thing seems to be absent in the WW1 game. You can send everyone everywhere without the max 3 supply penalty, e.g. redirect the BEF to Russia if the CP do a Russia first. Same goes for operating planes with the exception of Italy and OE.

That is correct, everyone will cooperate, but the cost of transporting troops, the time taken to do so, and the strategical situation may not make this the best thing to do.

That is very true much give and take. But now I ponder new strategies haha...

In my BEF example it's actually surprisingly cheap and fast. A Russia first means the BEF starts in England and has to be shipped anyway, the nearest russian port can be reached in iirc 3 turns and then you can just rail them to the frontline. So extra cost is 2 turns (assuming 1 turn to march after shipping otherwise) + 1 x operating costs compared to Flanders.

In WW1 actually a lot of moving stuff around happened, GB subs in the Baltic, German planes in the OE etc...
Though it was mostly limited to (at the time) high tech gear and its operators, not entire armies.

If you get a couple of German and/or Austro-Hungarian U-boats in the Black Sea..well, that can help send the Russian Navy down to visit Neptune's Villa, especially if the Central Powers brings the Goeben to the fandango. [:D]

Aha! I thought that too! No wonder you place 100 ships to block the exit! Haha. The trade off is of course you lose naval power in the Adriatic and you have to protect those ports...
