Adjustable handycap for hotseat mode

Post by Gunja »

I am a long time fan of the series, even if I don't have the time to play as much as I certainly would like to (one of the reasons I am not a good player). I Recently I have introduced my son (10 years) to the game and we are in our second game of SC WWI, Since he is a beginner it is fairly difficult for him to keep up and of course it doesn't help, that he wants to play the central powers. In the second game we are playing the Triple alliance to help him a little bit, but still we are in 1915, his western front is collapsing and in the east the Russians and Serbs are approaching Budapest (he did surprise me with a nice amphibious landing in northern Africa and is using the submarines quite well, disrupting my conveys quite efficiently.)
Is there a way to adjust the difficulty in hotseat mode (giving him more mpps experience etc., i.e. giving him some advantages over me that are also used in single player. Would it be possible to implement something like this? I think this would be really helpful, if you want to introduce new players.

Hi,
you can open the scenario in editor, save it as a custom, and change the values for units, MPP's etc. You can on the other hand built him up a bit, let's say give him more advanced tech, like infantry weapons at 1 or artillery on 1 since the beginning! That would do the trick, and it's super easy to do in editor. Just two clicks in EDIT - CAMPAIGN - choose country, like Germany and click technology, then change the tech you want. You will find it.
Cheers

Thank you for the hint, I will certainly try this. I would prefer a real adjustable handycap anyway- In the solution you suggested it is more a starting bonus and not so much a constant bonus (or it would mean some significant editing). But your solution is certainly worth a shot.
