sc ww1 digital copy on matrixgames

Hello! I noticed sc ww1 is alot cheaper here on this website compared to steam, I was just about to buy it but then noticed it seems to be the cd version. is there no way to only buy a digital copy ?

It defaults to buying a digital version, it is only if you tick the Upgrade to Physical + digital edition that you would also receive a disc with the game on it.

Thank you! So I just bought it, but when I try to add the key to steam it says invalid key...

Is the only option to add it to the library after downloading it from matrixgames ? I read that it would come with a free key that lets me activate it on steam, would really like to have the option to always being able to download it through steam.

After the purchase there is a key that starts with "SN: XXXX-XXXX...." Im guessing that is the code I should add to steam to activate it ?

EDIT: nevermind I just happened to find the "activate steam key" on slitherine.com (!) ... very weird that there is no info about this in the purchase email. I feel like there should be a link also that explains how to activate it on steam.
Not only is it not in email but I get the activation code from a completely different website which is really weird.
