France Meta

Post by lwarmonger »

Been gone for a minute because of this, but it looks like the meta is still to pour every single allied unit on the planet into France as allies to plus up their morale, and to launch Fall Weiss no later than turn 3 to counter as Axis?

Other pet peeves:
Vladivostok blockade has been nerfed a bit down to a 30 MPP decrement to the Vladivostok route, and attacks on blockading ships seem a bit more effective. Still kind of a no brainer to do this with 2-3 rotating gunboats though. Also reduces the incentive to try and seize Pearl Harbor (or Alaska if that was included as a trigger for eliminating the Vladivostok Lend Lease... which it should be).

Persian Gulf blockade is still as effective and complete as ever. Really should get rid of this, or nerf it similarly to Vladivostok. A maritime bomber and destroyer can turn it into a shooting gallery but between the MPP's you lose and the time it takes to kill a sub before high level anti-sub tech, still a no brainer from an axis perspective.

I'm not against "no downside" decisions... but I am against ahistorical "no downside" decisions. Which it seems we still have.

I don't think pouring in all allied units into France is META. I don't do it, and I think several other Axis players don't either. Axis attacking on t3 is just too effective against it, and seems not super effective either vs a more methodical slow Axis grind.

I personally prefer light in France, and try not to lose more than 1 corps, though sometimes I don't mind losing an AA or garrison on top of it. And instead, tech up for the long war with Britain.

The other two things, I don't think they are cost effective from an Axis perspective, so it's not really no downside. However, the issue is that throttling Russia from outside help is both too easy and too effective (since about half of their income almost comes from foreign help), and they are unable to really put up a fight on their own. And so Axis can afford to break even or even lose cost-effectively in these trades, since they can miss the MPP and Russia can't.

Interesting thoughts.

The USSR did have a small income boost in the last update, so from a patch perspective, we don't want to make any further changes that aren't based on the experience of playing games started since that patch was released in November last year.
