What kind of counters are showing on the iron cross map?

okay... that's it, I just had to deactivate the 3D unit, my mistake...

Is there a possibility of using these counters but with the old map?

It'd involve moving some files. You could go into the game's Bitmaps folders and find all the standard game terrain and resource sprites (mountains, roads, terrain, hills, rivers, fog of war etc.) and then copy them into the Community Mod /Bitmaps folder for the Iron Cross mod thus overwriting and replacing the Iron Cross map with the original game map in the mod.

It'd probably be simpler just to move the units_sprites_nato.png and unit_sprites_nato_zoom.png files from the Iron Cross mod major power counter folders to the corresponding standard game Bitmaps folder thus overwriting and replacing the standard Nato game counters. These would be in the Major_01 through Major_10 folders plus the Minors and Neutrals folders. I'd back the original folders up first just in case something goes awry. Just make copies and name them original Major_01, original Major_02, etc. or something prior to moving the Iron Cross png files into the standard game folders.

You don't need a download link anymore. If you have the latest patch, it's currently in the game under options--->settings--->mods. Then tick the Iron Cross box and hit OK.

Hi ironX

Not sure if you are still actively modding, but if so, are you planning to adapt your mod to upcoming "Strategic Command WWII: War in the Pacific"

Or is anyone else thinking of doing it?

I suppose most counters can be transferred directly from this mod, but the map will probably have to be modified.

IronX is long gone.
Here's a copy of his post on this matter in 2019: copy IronX 'Sorry, but I have no plans to mod these games again.'

I know there is another counter mod planned for WaW and possibly the new WitP in the future. That's all I can say on that matter at this time though.

If you hover your cursor just to the right of "Download the mod here:" in the first post you can see the link address.

Why the OP chose to do it in this deliberately obfuscated way I have no clue.

I don't particularly like gravedigging, but I'm not sure where else to ask something like this, this feels like the most relevant place to ask this question. I find the unit silhouettes used in this mod to be absolutely lovely, were they hand-made? I've been trying to see if I could find something similar but for, well, more vehicles from WW2, but with no luck. So I wanted to ask, were these silhouettes made specifically for this, or are tehy originally from elsewhere, and could anyone point me towards something similiar that potentially has a far greater selection of stuff beyond what's in this set?

They were likely made in an art program by the original poster. He had the talent and shared it as other modders here have done.
