Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
ELO ended Ktonos (Allies) defeats JNaspirant (Axis) by surrender.
Allied victory, Axis resigned on October 1942. Bloody battles in China and in the East, but Russians held outside of Moscow and Stalingrad, and conserved power. In the West it was Sitzkrieg, Axis chose to not contest Africa, which preserved Italian morale, but gave a free hand to the British. When Greece joined, the Tommies had a flood of units to pour to the Balkans, and that new front turned the scales. Great turn rate, and tense game.

ELO ended.
[WIN] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs noel60 (Allies) --- Allies surrender 1942. The Chinese & Russians were in the meat-grinder, constantly losing units & taking MMP damage constantly. Axis were punching hard. Starting out in the sands of Egypt with x3 Panzers. This operation went well. Afrika Corps waited in Palestine and ended up invading Syria and taking Turkey in Spring 1942. Moscow, Stalingrad, Changsta, etc were in big-time trouble. The British/Americans were in shock, when Spanish turned to the Nazi Régime after being bribed in 1942. Upto the American entrance, the Spanish were around 65%, then a pop. This was final straw.

[LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs Moonchild (Allies) ---
Axis surrender 1942. No point to continue.
DEI joins Allies 1941 by Diplomacy.
Not sure how many games this makes.
DEI diplomacy = Loss.
I've won once with it.
This has to be 5th game+ as LOSS. It's always game over.
No point.
We're gonna flip sides, play another

ThunderLizard11 (axis) [WIN] v. HarrySmith (allies) [LOSS] - Allies resign May '44 after Russia falls. Great match with allies controlling N. Africa, Norway and landing in Finland. Pacific first approach with US fielding 6 fleet and 4+ escort carriers all promoted to lvl 4 planes. Yanks captured Iwo and part of Marianas and seemed poised to make home island landings soon. Japs flipped DEI though with diplo which put them a step ahead as well. Burma and Thailand also recaptured by allies. Great game by Harry with excellent turn returns.

ThunderLizard11 (axis) [WIN] v. noel60 (allies) [LOSS] - Allies resign June '43. Axis in strong position with ME, Turkey, Chung King, Hawaii in Axis control. Allies landed in Algeria but bogged down. Good game from noel with quick turnaround on turns.

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
[LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) vs Bavre (Axis) --- Most boring game I've ever played. Zero action. Bavre does the delay crap with Luxemburg, Norway, Denmark, etc. Leaves North Africa. Just sits there with Japan. Well, took the capital with the slog method with Elite-13 Armies, but Chinese were quite strong. But there's no action. Russian was a complete bore.
Got tired of waiting. British decided to DOW on Denmark. India DOW on New Guinea.
Might as well play the 1942 Scenario.
Surrender January 1942.
Going water my house plants.
Gonna watch some TV (without the TV even *On).
This guy is Dawn of the Dead.
Yawn.

We were literally 2 turns from the poopoo hitting the fan in the game when you threw your fit. The reason I was so, let's say surgical in China was because I was saving every penny for the biggest Pearl attack I'd ever done. And I would not call an 80 bucks per round China that has lost Chunking and the entire border to Burma strong. Yeah there were a few rounds of inactivity, but that was just because your first lines a defense collpased so fast, that my cannons were not yet ready when I reached the mountain fortresses.
Same thing in Russia: considering the consistent bad weather starting in september, I think taking Leningrad, killing Zhukov and getting within 2 hexes of Moscow a fairly reasonable phase 1 for Barbarossa.
I'm sorry you're feeling that I've wasted your time, but come on man, a guy with your amount of games under the belt should recognize a "playing slow and steady for the big bang later" strategy. Only 50% of the money I saved by not doing any fancy moves was used on Goerings diet, I assure you.
And should we play again, please just tell me your grievances in a pm or so. I am not a fan of dragging such things into the forum, but you literally left me no choice here.
Btw as a sort of general anouncement:
If you don't like something I do (e.g. xp grinding), do not hesitate to let me know. I'm totally open to amending the houserules in an ongoing game.

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
We played.
I reported.
US readiness was 52% in December 1941.
Russians had Infantry +1
Obviously, the ignore Luxemburg, Denmark, Norway, Vietnam, etc. strategy works.
You're not the first person to do that.
Actually, many do, including Spying & Intelligence +3.
It's not even a game, when Russian tech is garbage and US won't join until April 1942.
Rules, I don't want any rules.
The players that made the no major Diplo, don't even play the game anymore.
They're not even aware of the stall strategy (no Lux, no Denmark, no Norway, no Vietnam, no Notta).
Farming, been doing that myself, since the beginning, I don't care.
Play as you wish.
British DOW on Denmark and New Guinea took USA to 18%.
I had to DOW Denmark, in order to enter Finland which had joined Allies due to Diplomacy.
Allies invested 1000s of into that conversion, part of my strategy.
If I don't do that, Finland is wiped out, had to do something.
My strategy was actually something new: All in Finland Diplomacy.
The game was over.
USA readiness went to 18%.
Allies lost.
You won, congrats!

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
[ELO Ended] Allies win.
EarlyDoors (Axis) v. JohnB (Allies)
Allies win with the Axis tipping the king in Oct. 1945. Japan had surrendered in August 45 with the A bombs and Germany was just about to go under leaving the Duce to frantically claim that it was all a big mistake. A very good game with EarlyDoors constantly wiping out my soviet armor and a two year seesaw battle over New Zealand which, in the end, never gave up.

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
ELO game finished:
Ktonos (axis) [WIN] vs Pekkavilamoura (allies) [LOSS], February 1944 by resignation
Match snowballed from 1942 onward. I dont think I ever had this luck in a SC game, not that I remember. All major rolls went my way. Germans had Tanks-3, Ground attack-2 on the eve of Barbarossa. I also risked a delay for the war so I can upgrade everything, gambling to have the Soviets join on opponent's turn, and they didnt (99% mob on my turn).
Spain got a streak of diplo hits very early, and joined in spring 1942.

JNaspirant (axis) [Loss] vs Allor (allies) [Win], January 1943 by resignation
Germany steamrolled France, Yugo, Greece but got bogged down in Russia. Germany/Italy did not contest North Africa. Japan was a slow methodical push into China but met resistance as they approached Chunking.
Great game JNas

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament
[WIN] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs Bubblebox (Allies) ---
Poland, Denmark, Low Countries, Norway, France: Par for the course
North Africa: Super Tanks bash thru, take Egypt
Turkey: Diplo, linked up Middle East for great supply for Iraqi battle against USAAF
Africa: doesn't matter
Russia: Surrendered early 1944. With no real help in Europe, Red is Dead.
China: Chinese got bashed in the head, no threat
Pacific: Yanks had super subs +5, Japs eventually ran & hid in 1943. Lost DEI, Singapore was next. Was delay time.
Conclusion: Allies put more MMPs into Pacific, didn't offer a MedFront or D-Day solution. Germans had awesome income with Turkey to Egypt. Able to fight with better supply vs Allies in Iraq. When the Caucuses final got cornered, Reds were broke.
Fun opponent, daily turns. Will play again, if I don't hit burnout. Been playing Ticket To Ride
