Clarification regarding British units when France surrenders?

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Clarification regarding British units when France surrenders?

Post by OxfordGuy3 »

Hi - it's been a little which since I played SC WW2: WiE, could someone remind me exactly what happens to British units in mainland France when France surrenders?

If I remember correctly, those in towns connected to ports (or in a hex which has an unbroken connection via other British units to a port) survive and are left on the map.

For units elsewhere in non-Vichy France, I think the manual says they surrender - but can they be bought back at reduced cost? Or are they completely destroyed (e.g. as if they were lost with supply less than 5)?

Also what happens to any British units in Vichy French territory?

I thought the manual discussed all this, but I can't find where.

I have seen AI UK air units in Tunisia surrender after the Fall of France.

Not sure if they get to buy-back at a reduced rate or not.

The other UK units in Northern France, I have seen them survive long enough to be evacuated.

I surmise it’s because when France falls, Tunisia becomes Vichy, so any UK units there must be disbanded. UK units in northern France may survive long enough to be evacuated because it’s merely occupied France, not Vichy.
