Help understanding DMG calculation

Fury Games has now signed with Matrix Games, and we are working together on the next Strategic Command. Will use the Slitherine PBEM++ server for asynchronous multi-player.

Help understanding DMG calculation

Post by marnoerzob08 »

Hallo all.

I'm completely new to the strategic commander series, and after some research decided to start with WiE.
I have some 50 hours in Panzor Corps, but for strategic wargames outside the HOI series that is all.

As a player, I'm sadly the type that likes to understand the underlaying mechanics, and do the math, but now I have encountered a predicted loss calculation I just can't seem to get right.

The attacker predicted loss is correct, but the estimated 4 on the enemy sides has me confused.

As we know the calculation is as such:

Attacker Losses = Defender’s Combat Multiplier * (Defense Type Value + Defender Experience / 3) - Attacker Multiplier * Attacker Experience / 3

Defender Losses = Attacker Multiplier * (Attack Type Value + Attacker Experience / 3) - (Defender Multiplier * (Defender Experience / 3 + Defender Entrenchment + Defense Bonuses).

Going by the numbers on the picture, my math for Defender losses looks like this:

1,11*(4+0/3) - (0,53*(0/3+0+0))

If my math is sound, and even calculating with the addtional -+ 1 that the game throws in for randomness, I can't seem to undestand the calculation at 4..

I have also checked research and nothing there pops out either.

Can anyone assist me?

1,11*(4+0/3) - (0,53*(0/3+0+0)) = 1,11*4 - 0,53*0 = 4,44 - 0 = 4,44 (which gets rounded down to 4)

The +-1 only gets applied after the prediction, so the defender will lose 3-5 points.

Ahhh, so i guess i'm reading the parentheses wrong, as I understood the first part of the equation as ((4+3)/3) but i guess that explains in itself why its wrong..
Thanks!

Exactly, the experience value gets divided by 3, but not the Attack Type Value.
