That you can't roflstomp the USSR in the 1942 offensive is actually a good thing - not for you, but for the game. [:D] Having won Egypt and the Middle East will win you this war, though.

Excellent AAR!

As a suggestion, if you could include the in game date on some of your turns instead of just "turn 32", it would be helpful for some of us newbs that don't equate what date each turn is associated with.

Thank you[&o]
Sure thing, will do so.

Turn 47, July 5th 1942

Weather
Clear.

Supply raids
Allied losses : 0 MPP
Axis losses : 2 MPP to strategic bombing.

Germany
Still slugging it out, but it SEEMS the USSR hordes are dwindling. We kill about 5 enemy units each turn now.

Italy
Not much goes on for Italy, I am considering buying all their aerial units as those seems most usable to me right now.

Allies
The USSR are still doing their best to force me away from D-town, but as long as their attacks are of the 0-1 type, I am happy to take it.

Purchases
I want Spain in this as well, Germany buys 2 diplochits, and Italy one.
Italy buys one Tactical bomber and save 43 MPP.

Reinforcements
Germany places the 3rd Heavy Panzer outside VIENNA by mistake...
Atleast, now we have Tigers!

Research
Germany finishes Advanced Aircraft3.

Decisions/Events
Turkey and Germany sign a friendship pact.
An USSR partisan appear in the Pripjet.

Concern
Time is ticking away...

Hi terje - I am enjoying your AAR. Two things:

1. Have you had any rough weather effects affecting your Kriegsmarine or Regia Marina units?

2. A bit of encouragement for you [;)]

Weather
Clear.

Supply raids
Allied losses : 0 MPP
Axis losses : 0 MPP

Germany
The Fins are making better progress than Germany at the moment...

Italy
We keep pushing in the Middle East, but gee, what are artillery units made up of? Few things that are harder to kill than those.

Allies
The USSR seem hell bent on wiping out the 16th Panzergrenadier, as no less than 5 attacks are made on this unit, leaving it with 3 points of strength.

Purchases
Germany buys one (the last), and Italy two (also the last) diplochits for Spain.
Germany buys one Army, while Italy saves 107 MPP.

Reinforcements
A German Medium bomber is placed outside Lublin, and a German submarine arrives at Constanta.

Research
None.

Decisions/Events
None.

Concern
Time is ticking away...

Turn 49, August 2nd 5th 1942

Weather
Clear.

Supply raids
Allied losses : 0 MPP
Axis losses : 0 MPP

Germany
We keep killing USSR units, and we inch foreward a few hexes at a time.

Italy
Those Commonwealth artillery pieces must be commanded by Superman and Captain America... We do get Transjordan to surrender, granting Italy a whopping 16 MPPs of plunder.

Allies
It seems the wind has gone out of the USSR, fewer attacks this turn, and none make any real impact.

Purchases
Italy orders a fighter, and saves 25 MPP, Germany saves their last 53 MPP.

Reinforcements
None.

Research
Germany starts Advanced Aircraft4.
Italy finishes Ground Attack Weapons2.

Decisions/Events
The Allies influence Turkey by 13%.

Concern
My intel shows me US troops heading across the Atlantic, where will they land? My guess is a pretty historic Torch...

Turn 50, August 16th 1942

Weather
Clear.

Supply raids
Allied losses : 0 MPP
Axis losses : 0 MPP

Germany
This might be the turn that ended the stalemate in the USSR. We kill 7 units, including a VERY annoying fighter, and we also take some key hexes.

Italy
Artillery pieces are gone at last, now the DAK and the Italians part ways.

Allies
YES! The USSR must be running low on units, because where as they would earlier repair wounded units and fill gaps with fresh units, the wounded units now have to fill the gaps in their line. Only a handful of USSR attacks are made, but north of Leningrad, an USSR paratrooper threathens to cut off the entire Finish army. The Fins will have to fall back.

Purchases
Germany buys the XIX Heavy Panzer, as well as 2 diplochits for Turkey, I do not want Turkey to join the Allies.
Italy saves it 204 MPP to buy more aerial units next turn (also, they can only have 3 diplochits in play at any time).

Reinforcements
Germany places the XIV Heavy Panzer outside Lublin.

Research
Both Italy and Germany finishes Production Technology3.

Decisions/Events
Oh oh...
Brazil DoWs us.

Concern
The US landing. Where?

Thank you [&o]

1. yes, not too often but I think the KM has been hit 3 times and the RM 1 time. Not a big deal, although I did not expect the Adriatic to have waves that would damage a BB.

2. Thank you, The Impossible Girl is NEVER wrong [:)]

Purchases
None. Italy saves 152 MPP, and Germany 356 MPP.

Turn 52, September 11th 1942

Weather
Clear, but rain in Finland.

Supply raids
Allied losses : 0 MPP
Axis losses : 2 MPP to bombing.

Germany
Same old, same old. Kill units and push on.

Italy
Keep pushing towards Iraq.

Allies
Great, 5 new USSR units spawn. That I can see that is.
The UK sends a submarine towards Cuxhaven.

Purchases
Italy buys a Tactical bomber, while Germany buys HQ Model and an army.
Germany also saves 164 MPP.

Reinforcements
None.

Research
None.

Decisions/Events
A partisan pops up in the USSR.

Concern
The fall/winter, and their weather. This probably means another wall of USSR units before we can press on.

We finally take Smolensk. In the south the 1st Hungarian Panzer attacks a depleted USSR Heavy Tank, and they wipe eachother out [:@]
We attack the UK submarine off Cuxhaven, and as always leave it at 1 strength.

Italy
Still on the move.

Allies
Due to miscalculations on my part, the USSR partisan take Mogilev.
The Royal Navy comes out in force, and tangle with my submarines, damaging three submarines, but sinking none.

Germany buys two armies, and save 120 MPP. Italy buys nothing, and save 145 MPP.

Reinforcements
None.

Research
Germany completes Advanced Tanks4.

Decisions/Events
None.

Concern
Weather.

Disclaimer
Renamed the Germany and Italy tags.

Weather
Mud.

Allied losses : 0 MPP

Eastern Front
Despite the mud this is a good turn. We start by wiping out the partisan, and retake Mogilev. In the north we take Volkhov, and in the south D-town finallt falls.
We sink one UK DD off Denmark with only a few scratches in the paint on the Tirpitz. The Fins manage to kill off the USSR paratrooper, but the situation is still not under control.

Africa/Middle East
A German paratrooper land on Cyprus, and the Regia Marina starts to bomb the garrison there.

A Finish corps manage to get surrounded. I will need good attacks next turn to extract it.

Turn 54, October 19th 1942

Weather
Snow.

Supply raids
Allied losses : 0 MPP
Axis losses : 3 MPP to bombing.

Eastern Front
Awful conditions, the Germans only manage to kill off one unit. The Fins do not manage to open a path for the trapped corps.
The Finish front is a concern, so Germany sends a Heavy Panzer to Finland.

Africa/Middle East
Still no luck for the Regia Marina in the shore bombardment department. We decide that the sencond paratrooper will have to prepare for a jump.

Allies
The USSR leaves the trapped Finish corps with 1 strength left.
A US BB shows up off Brest.

Purchases
Germany buys two pioneersm and Italy saves her 91 MPPs.

Turn 58
February 4th 1943, because as all know, 1943 did not have a January

Weather
Rain in the MED, snow elsewhere.

Supply raids
Allied losses : 0 MPP
Axis losses : 0 MPP

Eastern Front
The Finish corps is destroyed.

Africa/Middle East
Baghdad is captured, and Iraq is liberated.

Allies
The USSR even has units in the south, blocking the path for the DAK.

Purchases
Germany buys three armies.
Italy saves 200 MPP.

Reinforcements
HQ Busch and two armies are placed outside Lublin.
One German army is placed in Klagenfurt (I need a kind of a reserve to counter any US invasion with).

Research
None.

Decisions/Events
A USSR partisan spawns outside Leningrad.
Our diplomats finally do something, and Spain is brought 10% closer to us.
We decide to form the Liberation Army Corps under Vlassov.

Concern
I doubt the USSR is doable now, tempting to pull back all aerial units and paratroopers, then shorten the line and just hold in the USSR.
With the units in France, the aerial units and the paratroopers, I might be able to take London...

seems from this AAR and others that the game may be slightly skewed in the allies favor. is it even possible to avoid war with the USSR? the lack of progress on the eastern front is surprising. i would suggest perhaps avoiding moscow for the time being and going for the caucasus and the convoy terminus areas in the north. perhaps trying to surround moscow and cut it off for now

Well, with a perfect 20/20 hindsight, I will say that I have played this poorly in the east, and part of that is actually my builds. I think with a different army at the start of the campaign I might have done better.

I can take out alot of units in the turns with clear weather, but during mud and snow the Red Army recovers it size.

Although I have no idea, it seems that the USSR MPP gain is huge, because they build alot of tanks and heavy tanks, and that gets expensive quite fast.

I have to spend some time to ponder my next moves, but as it is right now, I am much closer to Moscow than Stalingrad and the Caucasus. Let us pray for a short winter, and great spring weather!

Italy buys an engineer, and save 182 MPP.

The XIX German Heavy Panzer is placed outside Lublin, while the Italians place a fighter in Marsala.
