September 2nd Army Group Center
The city of Smolenks, the primary objective, is captured after 2 turns of hard fighting. Our leading Panzerkorps acting as spearhead was destroyed by a clever Soviet counterattack involving a mechanized Infantry corps, our first loss in the Russian theater of operations.
A line of fortifications now extends through the main road leading to Vyazma and Moscow. The first artillery unit arrives to the front near Vitebsk.

October 4th
A few turns ago Bordeaux was captured unopposed by the British Calvary unit (coming from Malta) liberating France!! I forgot that this city was the last Capital of France before the capitulation. [8|] Since then all Vichy territories were one by one turning to the Allied cause. Vichy France and Tunisia were the first to change sides. Tunisia was recaptured in October by a Hungarian Infantry Corps. Algeria was mobilized 72% and Syria 76%. Denmark, the Netherlands and Estonia are still neutral.
The British have invaded Sweden coming from Oslo and the fighting in this country is absorbing more and more Axis troops and materiel. The fighting for Narvik is also going on in Northern Norway… the Wehrmacht is more and more stretched to the limit. The U-Boot campaign in the Atlantic with our newer model level 3 subs was a disaster, our side losing 6 U-Boote in a short period of time against no losses!
The Allied destroyers are everywhere and their killing performance power is outstanding… Fafnir is a master dealing with subs [&o] [&o] [&o] [&o] [&o] [&o]

For quite a few months we are stuck at a total of 60 land units, unable to make this number go up as new arrivals barely replace the losses. The carriers are the Nº1 Allied killer machines. Almost all of this losses take place in the Finland and Norway...

Coming from Oslo, the Allied forces are pushing towards Stockholm with heavy air support. We are using German Infantry and troops from Finland to help the Swedish defend their Capital. Our intelligence officers think that at least the Allies have deployed 2 Armies, 4 Inf corps, 1 tank Corps, 1 HQ, 3-4 air units, 2 AAs and several garrisons in this Scandinavian Theater.

November 17th Army Group South
After 2 turns of mud and rain the German forces keep pushing East capturing the Voroshilovgrad mine complex. Kherson, the gate to the Crimean peninsula, was captured by our Balkan Allies that follow behind. Kharkov and Kursk are also now in our hands further North.

Next allied turn November 28th the Soviets counterattack from Rostov! [X(] Powerful tank and mechanized forces attack our exposed armored troops and manage to destroy both the Panzerkorps and the Panzergrenadiers… The destruction of our fast troops is a severe blow, being the only offensive units left to Army Group South.

December 6th
In the Moscow Front Tula is now in our hands and Kaluga is about to fall. Rzhev is also captured unopposed as the town was abandoned by Soviet forces. The Luftwaffe has left the area, transferring to the Reich for a rest and refit pause. No fortifications are detected defending the capital, most of the engineers are working around Stalingrad.

Hitler is furious about the destruction of our armored troops in Army Group South. He decides to see the situation by himself and boards his personal plane in Berlin having the intention to see General von Rundstedt at his HQ near Dnepropetrovsk December 6th. Two hours after the take off the Junker 52 explodes killing all on board. The underground military resistance movement takes control of the Nazi Reich Regime… The Allies are contacted and Germany surrenders! The game is over.

Playing Fafnir is a unique experience. He manages to control any kind of situation expertly and anticipates any move his opponents might be planning. Many thanks Fafnir for this great entertaining and painful game!

To give you some idea about the losses the Axis have suffered here is the December 6th total lost list. 1942 have not yet begun and the Germans/Allies have lost 37 units including 6 of my beloved U-Boote!!

How could he as the British afford both a large Scandinavian force as well as a large Med one?

Only two marine bombers were build to deal with the level 3 subs. The other units are those UK gets for free or rebuild units that were destroyed while in supply.
Of cause not much was left in UK itself, but a Sealion would not have fit to Taifuns strategy to keep US and USSR activation low.
