RE: Another counter mod (on going)
Hello All,
One more screenshot (Italy + UK completed)
I need to add Facing direction change at least for vehicles and Artillery.
Starting USA in parallel.
For ETA I Hope to complete in few weeks (humm...)
I didnt manage tech upgrade so far as it will leads to hundred of silhouettes to edit.

What does the naval designation "DN" stand for? Dreadnought? All modern, post-Dreadnought BBs were and are dreadnoughts. If meant to be pre-Dreadnoughts then "B" is the usual notation. DN isn't the vanilla game is it?

Superbe boulot ! Bravo, j'ai hâte de voir ça fini !

Hello Capitaine.
You're right DN is for Dreadnought, and its already included in the vanilla game, I simply set a battleship for this picture slot.

What is a DN supposed to represent (in the game)?
RE: Another counter mod (on going)
I like these counters.
In a strategic game one should immediately, with a glance, understand the situation. Elegant and simple in their format, they serve the job magnificently.

In the vanilla game, it's just a unit slot that can be used for modders.
Maybe we will use it properly in the future too. [;)]

Those USA counters are awesome - It all reminds me of the type of counters you would see in Panzer Leader or Panzer Blitz from Avalon Hill!
Fondly remembers SSI's "Clash of Steel"

Excellent work SIPRES!
I'm really looking forward to trying this counter set once you are done.
I'm working on my own Hybrid counter mod and can appreciate how much work this involves.
Can I ask you how you are creating the vehicle silhouettes?
Mine loose much definition when reducing them to fit, especially around the edges. After consulting the Matrix community, I've been teaching myself Paint.net but even with boltbaits addons, this crucial step remains the most challenging.
I've been trying several techniques and have been getting the best results by saving a slightly larger image with a transparent background onto the counter background colour and then converting them to PDFs. Then I further reduce the size to fit. I find that this creates a pleasing feathered effect. The PDFs seem to manage this the best.
Can your share your technique?
Thanks,
Angus

I like the icons with the NATO symbols, but I'm wondering what an isometric figure perspective would look like?
Instead of a black silhouette, you could then enter some depth and color into the figurines with the small NATO symbols to cement the combat unit type.
Size determined by the Xs on top, a numbers column denotes the tech level on the side and the opposide side the unit designation/name entered by the owning player.

For the silhouette I use a Vectorize Software (freeware INKSCAPE).
Its quite powerfull software wich allows many things (I am still learning)
What I usually do is to grab a decent image on Internet of what I need (Eg side view of Russian T34).
I do import to inkscape and use a bitmap vectorize function (this will convert the image in nodes)
Then I turn the colors to black and got the silhouette.
I resize to fit in SC3 counters
I do finally export to PNG format and thats it
The advantage of vector graphics is there is no resolution loss after resize.
As long as original picture has a sufficient size.
Here is in great lines on the following screenshot

I just wonder about colors wich may leads to some blending problem with the counter color, need a try.
For the tech level and experience I try to leave enough space on my counters design to allow correct display of the ones used in the game (white dots for EXP and numbers for TECH)
For custom unit name display it had to be managed by the game program, nothing we can do on the graphic files
