Thanks for those highlights.
I may have errors here and there. I didnt include accents as I suspect software "may" not recognize them and lead the MAP to crash, need a try...

I think it will need a full typo review after map completion.

This looks like the Europa game series from the 1970s.

Sipres: The map looks nice. I started a map set to 16 miles/hex with the idea that is could be used with the GDW/GRD Europa OOB, but became totally demoralized once the task of making the coastlines presented itself. 12.5 miles per hex (20km/hex) might be a good substitute since one must deal with the whole no stacking issue. Let us know how your progress goes!

StratComAI: once Sipres gets the map done, I can easily add in road/rail lines from the Europa maps. Might have to create (if possible) a few new terrain types like bocage. Some of the hexside terrain types like karst may not be supportable. The bigger issue is the map/movement speed relationship. With Sipres' map hexes slightly smaller and the SC3 infantry movement rate already lower at 4 vs. Europa's 6, you'd be pretty much forced to either go to weekly turns or if possible, reduce movement costs to clear hexes down to 0.5. Will have to check to see if that is possible.

Hi,

Thank you both, I didnt knew europa series and I check on google.
Its really a "monster" game when you get all maps together........

Here is current Progress:

France,Holland,Belgium,Denmark,Spain,Portugal 100% completed
North Germany Coast complete (till Konigsberg)
Italy Coast complete, working now on rivers and relief.

Next target will be UK coast and Balkans

I join the reference map I use

Spires, keep up the good work. That coastline stuff....ugh. I failed that morale check, your fortitude must be higher.

One question for you: is there space in the SCIII map size limits for a few extra rows of hexes, using your base map? The Europa maps include the northern Finnish/Arctic coast (Petsamo and Murmansk in particular) and the Allied convoys run thru there during the winter months. Not relevant to 18th century wargaming, but some interesting stuff during WW2.

Editor is flexible and you can resize and shift map content, so should be possible to add Northern area (also maybe USA east coast)

Yes! I always enjoyed the arctic theater in Europa as a sidelight to the main theater action. Some interesting twists that could, on occasion, have a significant effect on the overall game.

Looks fantastic Sipres. I noticed your reference maps don't include Baku, the Caspian Sea and even a couple of hundred miles farther east. I would suggest that you should have the area where much of the Soviet's oil came from.

Hi Hairog,

My first intention was to make map for napoleonic period (for example no Kiel or Suez canal in 1805)
As I have seen several people might be interested for WW2 or later period, I think I will consider for an extension (North aera and east).
But first I want to complete the map with its current limits (I am still quite far to complete as its a really tough job to do proper coastlines)

Hey Christophe,

Just a suggestion. I personally want to explore a Southern strategy and the Baku area is of interest.

I can't imagine making a map the way you and Hubert are doing. I have enough trouble with a few dozen unit counters.
