Bleached Map - Version 2.0

Post by PHalen »

I've made some map adjustments that work well for my aging eyes.
This version 2.0 of the Bleached Map mod works for both “War in Europe” and “World at War”.

The Bleached Map mod is a stand-alone map mod with no other game changes what so ever.

Features:
- Significantly paler/bleached maps.
- Less bleached major rivers, to make them easier to distinguish from normal rivers.
- Less bleached railroads, to make them a bit clearer.
- Less bleached recourses (i.e. cities, towns & ports etc.)

The Bleached Map mod comes in two flavors:
Files in folder “Bitmaps” feature mine & oil symbols instead of 3D sprites to make mine & oil objective hexes easy to spot. (They are slightly adjusted versions of the mine & oil symbols I believe were initially created by sPzAbt653 and later incorporated into welk’s ”Board Game” mod.)

For those who prefer a more consistent map look, use the two files in folder “Bleached Mine & Oil Bitmaps” instead.

Installation instructions:
- Save copies of the original files located directly under folder “Bitmaps”.
- Copy & replace all files in folder “Bitmaps” of the “Bleached Map_v2.0.7z” file to directly under folder “Bitmaps”.
- If you don’t like the mine & oil symbols, use the two files under folder “Bleached Mine & Oil Bitmaps” instead.

A sample from the opening of WiE campaign “1940 Attack in the West”.
With mine & oil symbols and with National Colors enabled.

Thanks very much for the bleached map and the units mod you made. I can actually see the infantry 3d sprites with this map. Could barely make them out on the vanilla map. I do prefer your counter mod, however.

This thread is the old download version. The map was later updated to 2.1. The Bleached Map also is available in the Iron Cross mod which comes with the game.

Thanks, unfortunately, it's to washed out for my taste and I'd prefer the hex sides a tad darker. Tired old eyes, I have.
